Using Goodness to End Hate and Evil in the World

My name is Jane (Zhizhen) Dai. My daughter’s name is Fadu and she is three years old. We are Australian citizens. My husband, a Chinese citizen, and I married and lived together in China for about 8 years before he was killed. This is the last picture we took of him [Shows picture].

He was killed simply because he refused to give up practising Falun Gong and went to Beijing to hand a letter to the Chinese Government, in which he appealed for Falun Gong and said, “Our whole family benefits greatly from practising Falun Gong. Falun Gong is good.” He was arrested by the police, put into jail, tortured and finally killed at the age of thirty-four. At that time, our daughter was only 8 months old.

Falun Gong has helped us to have a healthy body and a peaceful mind. We followed the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance” in our daily life and tried to be good people with high moral standards. What’s wrong with that? Should my husband be killed just because of that?

My daughter and I were in Australia when I heard about my husband’s death. I was heartbroken. I wanted to go back China immediately with my daughter to get the ashes of my husband’s body. However, we were refused a visa to China by the Chinese Embassy.

With my baby daughter in my arms, I travelled around to ask for help. This is our first picture in an Australian newspaper [Shows picture]. I talked to MPs and I talked to human rights organisations. Eight months later, with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Australia, I finally got the ashes back. This is the ashes [Shows ashes]. The Australian Government handed these ashes to me.

In China, thousands and thousands of families are just like mine. They are still being cruelly persecuted. They don’t even have a chance to speak out and they have nowhere to ask for help. This ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China has destroyed countless families that were happy and harmonious; a lot of children have lost their mother or father.

Look at my hair. It became grey soon after my husband’s death. When my daughter saw her father for the last time, she was not yet nine months old. The most heart-breaking time for me was when she asked me, “Where’s Daddy? I want Daddy!” I didn’t know how to answer her. I didn’t know how to make her understand this persecution or that her father was killed because he chose to follow “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance” and tried to be a good person. I don’t know how this terror will affect her whole life.

In China, thousands and thousands of children are still suffering just like my daughter. They have no human rights, no voice and nowhere to ask for help. In order to help those children, to help those innocent people who are persecuted, I decided to go to different countries to tell people the truth about what is happening in China. I hope you can help us to end this persecution immediately. I also appeal to you all to give a hand to save those persecuted mothers, fathers and children in whatever way you can.

Thank you.
