Spain: Promoting Falun Gong at Valencia International Culture Exchange Expo

From the 7th to the 9th of May, an annual cultural exchange expo was held in Valencia, a beautiful seaside town in Spain. At the same time, another international expo on exchanging Spanish and South American culture was also held there.

Since it was a weekend, apart from the local Valencia people, many tourists from other Spanish cities and foreign countries also came to spend their holidays in Valencia. Everywhere was alive with people which brought about a lively atmosphere.

Our Falun Dafa stand was situated at the entrance of the expo; when people came in, they were immediately attracted by Falun Dafa’s posters and practitioners’ exercise demonstrations. Many people stopped at our stand and listened to practitioners introducing Falun Dafa.

After looking at the introduction of Falun Dafa, a Spanish man said, “I admire Chinese culture very much as it is so profound. I will definitely join Falun Gong’s nine-day lectures.” A Nepalese man also expressed his wish to learn Falun Gong as he told us, “The moral standards of humankind are very important. Nowadays, mankind’s moral character has fallen dramatically, even in countries like Nepal and India, where Buddhism originated and became very popular, the moral standards are no longer high.”

A lady brought her ten-year old son to our stand and said that her child likes Chinese culture very much, and he even wanted to become a monk and cultivate in a Chinese monastery. When the boy saw the English version of Zhuan Falun [the main text of Falun Gong] offered to him by a practitioner, he accepted the book with both hands at once. He opened the first page and concentrated on Master’s photo, after a while, he said, ‘Mum, I quite need this book.’ When his mum was going to pay for the book, he stopped his mother and said:’ No, I have the money so I will pay for it myself.’ Both the mother and child later enrolled for the nine-day lectures.

At first, not many people knew Falun Dafa, but after listening to our introduction, many people put their names down to join the nine-day lectures. And some of them even started to learn the five sets of exercises straight away.

Two professors from the University of Castellon spoke to practitioners when they passed by: “It’s a pleasure to meet Falun Dafa here. We have heard about Falun Gong through Video-CDs and leaflets in Castellon, people should have the freedom of belief, they should not be persecuted. We believe that every person with a kind-heart will help and support you.” They signed our petition to support Falun Gong. Other people also put down their names on the petition to call for the end of the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang’s Regime in China.
