UK: Explaining the Facts at an Amnesty International Meeting in Huddersfield

On May the 20th 2004, a Falun Gong practitioner attended a meeting held by the UK Amnesty International working group in Huddersfield. At the meeting, the practitioner explained the facts about Falun Gong to four members of the group and played a video exposing the truh about the persecution of practitioners in China.

To the people in Huddersfield, Falun Gong is still something new. Therefore, the members of Amnesty International there were not quite familiar with Falun Gong. One of them even said that it was the first time for him to learn anything about Falun Gong. In the meeting, the Falun Gong practitioner first briefly introduced to them the spreading and development of Falun Gong. And then he told them that there were than one hundred million people practising Falun Gong around the world and the facts about Jiang’s persecution of Falun Gong, as well as the on-going lawsuits against Jiang Zemin in various countries. When talking about Jiang’s genocide policy against Falun Gong, a lady appeared to be shocked deeply.

Afterwards, when watching Falun Gong’s truth-clarification films together, all the members of Amnesty International present showed their sympathy for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners and expressed their resentment against the perpetrators. A lady whose eyes brimmed with tears after watching the film, said that the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China is really terrifying.

Finally, the head of this Amnesty International working group expressed his support for Falun Gong, and would like to do something to rescue Falun Gong practitioners.

After the meeting, all the participants from Amnesty International signed their names on the appeal letters for “Rescuing Falun Gong Practitioners’ Family Members in China” and the “Public Trial of Jiang Zemin.” They also asked Falun Gong practitioners some questions. One of them asked if Falun Gong practitioners are against the Chinese Government. The practitioner replied that Falun Gong practitioners are not against any government, and that during the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s state visits to the U.S. and Europe, the banners prepared by Falun Gong practitioners read “Welcome Wen Jiabao” and “Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice.” The one who raised the question thus realised the facts immediately. Then he asked who financially supports Falun Gong practitioners; for instance, who provides the flyers to Falun Gong practitioners. After hearing that all the truth-clarification materials are purchased by Falun Gong practitioners with their own savings, he nodded with a sigh.

Before leaving, they invited Falun Gong practitioners to attend their next meeting, and expressed their blessings and thanks.
