In order to defend his regime, the dictator of a totalitarian country must first achieve obedience among his people. To reach this goal, in addition to strong state stratagems, he also has to apply mind control, utilizing all the media to instil his theories in people. Thus, he is able to unify his people's thoughts and make his- the ruler's- view become the view of the country and the nation. He excludes all the perspectives and theories that are inconsistent with his. These voices usually sing a different tune than his, moreover, these voices reveal the truth and expose the rulers' hidden goals; this is what the rulers fear the most. This is why the Taliban regime does not allow its people to watch TV; it is also not hard to understand why Jiang Zemin's regime does not allow Chinese people to read Falun Gong books and materials.
Jiang Zemin's regime has the features of not only totalitarianism but also terrorism. The core of the regime is violence, using the most brutal means to destroy people who they perceive to be their enemies without considering the consequences. Terrorists are just like this. Bombing the World Trade Center, bombing the Pentagon-- the purpose is revenge. For Falun Gong practitioners, Jiang Zemin's regime employs the method of beating and torture so as to destroy practitioners' will. Terrorists use bombs and chemical weapons. In this case, the methods that Jiang Zemin's regime adopts to persecute Falun Gong include: The Diliao device also known as, "Imprisonment in Hell" (A device intended for murderers or death row inmates. Whenever the practitioner sleeps or moves, plier-shaped clamps dig into the practitioners' skin. For a pictorial illustration of this torture device, please see http://www.minghui.ca/mh/articles/1999/9/20/5208.html), "Water Dungeon" (a torture method in which a person is continuously soaked with freezing water), electric batons, iron sticks, sticks with spikes, rape, gang-rape, exposure to the burning sun, force-feeding, "Digging in Bamboo Sticks" (a torture method in which sharp bamboo sticks are hammered into a person's fingers through the tip of the fingernails, causing the fingernails to be torn off completely), being continuously criticized and denounced in public while a board with slander and words of defamation hangs around one's neck, detention in mental hospitals, and huge fines. Although they use different weapons than the terrorists, the common characteristic is the use of extreme means to vent personal resentment.
Unlike the recent terrorist attacks in America, the state terrorism executed by Jiang Zemin's regime has not drawn enough attention from the international community. This is what we should be most concerned about. State terrorism can bring the same catastrophic effects to the international community as well.
