On July 18th 2004, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the persecution against Falun Gong conducted by the Jiang group, UK practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition with the theme ‘Persecution Meets Principle’ in front of the Houses of Parliament. By having practitioners act out methods of torture 'live', they aimed to make vivid the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China and appeal for an end to the persecution. Many passersby stopped to watch, they were all shocked to learn that practitioners in Mainland China are subjected to this brutal torture in prisons right now.

In the exhibition practitioners showed nearly ten torture methods including forced abortion, being hung up and beaten, forced feeding, burning and so on. Pictures and explanations were also displayed alongside each exhibit. In contradiction to the cruel and ferocious tortures, some practitioners demonstrated the exercises peacefully. At the same time, a western practitioner introduced each torture exhibit to bystanders, and let people know more about the persecution against Falun Gong in China.
After reading the information boards, many visitors came up to talk to practitioners and signed the petition. People were deeply shocked by the brutal scenes. Some of them took pictures of the exhibition and some paid their respect by giving a thumbs up to us. Some just stood there for a while and did not want to leave.
Watching the exhibition, an English lady turned to one of the practitioners and said quietly, “I will pray for you all. What you have done really impressed me, bless you all.’

Quite a few tourist groups from China passed by. A group of students could not help but shout out when seeing the exhibition, many girls covered their eyes with their hands, could not bear to see the brutal exposition of what is happening in China. A lot of Chinese people came to ask for the truth and talk to practitioners.
On of the organisers called Lee believed that holding this exhibition was significant and stated, "The Jiang group started the persecution against Falun Gong five years ago, now it is verified that over a thousand practitioners have been persecuted to death. The exhibition has clearly exposed the brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners conducted by the Jiang group in Mainland China. We appeal to bring an end to the persecution immediately."
