Five years ago on that day, hundreds of people throughout China were taken from their homes in the middle of the night to face an indoctrination process consisting of scare tactics, brainwashing and other forms of coercion meant to break their belief. This large scale, atrocious and most viciously covered-up systematic persecution against Falun Gong practitioners was prefaced by overwhelming state-run media propaganda and followed by brutal repression.
During the past five years, millions of people kidnapped or were forced to attend brainwashing sessions, thousands of people were sent to labour camps or prisons for up to eighteen years, tens of thousands of happy families were broken up, and so far reliable resources that at least 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners lost their lives directly due to torture and abuse in custody or prison, while the true death toll could be over 5,000. By following Falun Gong's principles of “Truth, Compassion and Tolerance”, millions of Falun Gong practitioners in China and outside China have been engaging in peacveful activities to counter the web of fear and hatred spun by China’s state-run media and let more people know about the brutal persecution. Now with the awareness of more and more people, more than twenty lawsuits against those who had acted unlawfully towards Falun Gong have been filed.
Falun Gong practitioners held an exhibition of the brutal persecution facts and demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises at the Munich Chinese Embassy. Many onlookers or passers-by came to ask for leaflets and newspapers. Even the policemen, who at first were unfriendly, changed their attitude later.
Before the activity ended, it started to rain. However, practitioners kept sending righteous thoughts and continued the activity. It was not until practitioners left that it started to rain heavily. As usual, the embassy staff monitored the whole activity using a video camera.
