On Saturday August the 21st, an anti-torture exhibition with the theme "Persecution Meets Principle" was held in the centre of Cambridge. Practitioners demonstrated several torture methods used against Falun Gong practitioners in Chinese jails and labour camps to force them to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. Realistic make-up and uniforms made the exhibits extremely vivid and powerfully exposed the ruthlessness of the Jiang regime.
The streets of Cambridge were packed with weekend shoppers enjoying the summer sun. After taking a look at the 'live' exhibits and reading the information boards, hundreds of passersby took leaflets and signed a petition to 'Bring Jiang to Justice'. People were shocked and dismayed at the crimes that former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin has committed in his campaign of genocide against Falun Gong practitioners. Many people had not heard of Falun Gong before or knew just a little. After talking with practitioners they were sad that a peaceful spiritual practice, which emphasises morality and virtue, should be persecuted so cruelly.
Cambridge is a particularly popular destination for Chinese visitors and countless groups passed our exhibitions as they toured the city. Many have been affected deeply by the relentless propaganda campaign that accompanies the persecution in Mainland China and would not take our leaflets or stop to talk. Hopefully the sight of Falun Gong's popularity and acceptance all over the world, with westerners as well as overseas Chinese, might leave an impression. However quite a few did accept materials and chat with practitioners, which was very encouraging.
