Oil on Canvas: “Judgement” (detail) by Wang Weixing (52in X 69in), 2003 |
A fine arts exhibition with the theme "Uncompromising Courage" was held in the exhibition hall of Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. from July the 15th to the 16th 2004.
A total of thirty-four works by ten artists were displayed in the exhibition. All the artists are Falun Gong practitioners. The exhibition consisted of four sections: Heaven and Humanity in Harmonious Unity, Unnamed Tribulations, Uncompromising Perseverance and the Righteous Will Surely Triumph. By means of artistic expression and exquisite skill, the artists portrayed the brutal persecution that Falun Gong practitioners have been suffering over the past five years and their uncompromising courage demonstrated throughout the process. They also expressed their confidence that good (brightness) will ultimately triumph over evil (darkness).

Professor Zhang Kunlun and one of his paintings |
Professor Zhang Kunlun explained that, through his work “Red Wall,” he depicted Chinese dictator and former president of China Jiang Zemin and his group's holistic suppression of Falun Gong practitioners spreads from the top down by commanding layer upon layer of government, from propaganda to the educational system. All of China is like a big prison restrained inside a high wall stained with blood. Even if all torture methods are used, they cannot change the hearts of Falun Gong practitioners who have understood the true value of life and universal truth. The red wall that symbolises the Red Regime has cracks appearing in it. The wire nettings, cruel tortures and malicious police guards and so on are only the last of the darkness before the dawn awakens.
Another artist, Wang Zhiping, used classical painting techniques to portray the brutal torture that Falun Gong practitioners suffer. When depicting the facial expressions of Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering torture, there is no pain or sadness, but fearless courage and their steadfast belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. The painter, through the police's facial expressions and physical movements, particularly portrays the police's brutality, madness and unlimited nature while torturing Falun Gong practitioners.

“Judgement” is one of the two giant paintings. The artist is Ms. Wang Weixing. With exquisite painting techniques, she depicted the scene of three lovely angels sending the main culprit of the persecution of Falun Gong into Hell.
The viewers of the art exhibition included Members of Congress people and their staff members working in the building, as well as tourists from different countries. They all expressed that they would help end the persecution soon.
