To the Supreme People's Procuratorate,
My name is Peng Zhenxiu and I live at Jixiancun, 191 Chongren Road, Qiaokou District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. I am a 70 year old female Falun Dafa practitioner.
Recently, I read the following news report:
"From May this year to June the following year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate will conduct a national investigation of all government officers who, in the course of carrying out their duties, have breached the Human Rights Act by using their power unlawfully.
The investigation will target five major offences committed by these officers:
- putting property and lives in jeopardy,
- illegal arrests and searches without warrants,
- using torture and violence to extract information,
- destroying and infringing citizens' rights and voting rights,
- using corporal and mental punishment on detainees
The persecution I personally experienced at the Legal Education Centre, Qiaokou District falls within the above categories. The Legal Education Centre openly disregarded the Law, set up its own court, and applied torture to force me give up my belief in "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance," - my right to live as a good citizen.
On the 15th of October, 2003, an Officer named Yang from the "6-10 Office," [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] three local police officers, and two District Secretaries came to my home. Officer Yang tried to force me to rebuke my Teacher using slanderous language, which I refused. Because of that, they wanted to take me to their Legal Education Centre in the Qiaokou District. When I shut myself in the washroom, a police officer called Chen broke the door down and dragged me out. My daughter held on to me and did not want to let go. Chen yanked her away and warned her that he would take her away as well if she did not let go. Despite my protest against their unlawful actions, and before a crowd of neighbours, I was forced into a van. That night, at about 7.00 p.m., I was sent to the Legal Education Centre at Etouwan in Qiaokou District.
About ten people were selected from various related departments to run the Legal Education Centre, which is in fact a brainwashing class. At the time, I was the only Falun Dafa practitioner being detained at the centre. On the second day, they played a VCD showing a series of pictures of someone slandering Falun Dafa, with the intention of brainwashing me. I couldn't watch it as I know the truth about Falun Gong. My seven years of cultivation in Falun Dafa has shown me that this a genuine practice for upgrading one mind and body. I knew that Falun Dafa is really good. Hence, all the slander that they force upon me had no effect. Four days later, another elderly woman, Gui Popo, was also sent in. We were then forced to watch the VCD during the day, and listen to fabricated stories slandering Dafa at night. None of their information was factual.
Day and night, from the 16th of October until the 1st of November, we were forced to listen to these lies. I did not give up my practice so they locked me up in solitary confinement for four days. I continued to hold to my beliefs. From the 5th of November onwards ten officers who were assigned to conduct the class were divided into five groups. They changed roster every four hours to supervise the class until midnight. Then from the 6th of November onwards, I was not allowed to sit and had to stand and listen. During a cold rainy day, the temperature dropped to about 3 degrees Celsius. For over half an hour, they forced me to stand outside in the harsh cold and windy elements before taking me back to the cell, where the only bed had no covers on it. On the morning of the 7th of November, at about 8 a.m., I was forced to stand and listen to their brainwashing materials. Because of my persistence in refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a person named Li dragged me out one day and asked me to slam my head against the wall and kill myself. I told him that Dafa practitioners are not allowed to kill. Suicide is also a form of killing. Two officers, Lin and Wu, were present at that time. They witnessed all that had happened to me. Because I refused to read those materials against Dafa, I was forced to stand for six days and nights where I wasn't allowed to sit down even during meal time.
After seeing that I was still very persistent, they tied my arms together behind my back and hung me up. This caused excruciating pain in my arms and torso. Li said, "We want to dislocate your bones. I was left hanging there for the next two days.
At the Legal Education Centre, I, an elderly woman, was more dead than alive after all this torture. Even today, my physical and mental injuries have not fully recovered.
I sincerely hope that the members of the Supreme People's Procuratorate will conduct an investigation into all these activities, restore the human rights to every citizen, and uphold the supremacy of the law.
