Falun Gong Practitioners File a Lawsuit Against Jia Qinglin During His Visit to Austria

After visiting Korea, Jia Qinglin arrived in Austria on the 30th of August 2004. During his visit, the Austrian Falun Dafa Association, the International Human Rights Association, the human rights organisation ‘Society For Threatened Peoples’, many individuals, and Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted in Beijing filed a lawsuit against Jia Qinglin in the Vienna Procuratorate for crimes of torture and also for his crimes in the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Jia Qinglin, now the tenth Chairman of The Political Consultation, was the secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee from 1999 to 2002. He took vigorous action to push forward the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The period that he worked in Beijing is the period when the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners was the most intense and brutal. Beijing Industrial and Commercial University youth teacher Zhao Xin, and Wang Lixuan with her eight month old baby were tortured to death in this period. The 'Self-Immolation' incident in Tiananmen Square also took place in this period.

Jia Qinglin, one of the officials in the Chinese Communist Party directly involved in the persecution Falun Gong, is the 11th person under investigation by the World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG).

According to an investigation by WOIPFG, Jia Qinglin is considered to be a close follower of Jiang Zemin and has been for a long time. He escaped from being responsible for the famous ‘Yuanhua Case’ with Jiang’s protection. He follows Jiang closely to persecute Falun Gong. On the 20th of July 1999, Jiang’s clique started to suppress Falun Gong, and Jia immediately declared his support and held the ‘Members of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee Expansion Conference’, asking all organisations of the Communist Party at all levels in the city and all party members to be involved in this political battle against Falun Gong.

On many occasions, Jia emphasised that people should be against Falun Gong, and used all opportunities to assault the practice. He took the lead in meeting and encouraging the National Anti-Falun Gong Touring Group. He also presented himself in the 'Beijing Advanced Fighting against Falun Gong Recognition Meeting' and gave a speech to encourage the individuals and units who are directly involved in persecuting Falun Gong.

Jia guided the investigation of Falun Gong issues in Beijing. As well as this, he slandered Falun Gong at various conferences and official occasions, such as the Beijing Politics and Law Work Conference and the Religious Work Conference. He also took vigorous action to persecute female Falun Gong practitioners.
