Sweden: Falun Gong at the Annual Conference of the Ruling Party

The annual conference of the ruling Social Democrat party in Sweden was held in Vasteras. Falun Gong practitioners were invited to demonstrate the five sets of exercises on the stage in the exhibition hall on November 8 and 10, and to introduce Falun Gong.

On November 8, The Ministers of Foreign Affairs from Israel and Pakistan delivered speeches. It made the conference much more lively. Ten or more of the practitioners demonstrated five sets of exercises and introduced Falun Gong to people around. When Margarita Winbye, Minister of Agriculture, approached, we asked her if she wanted to read materials about Falun Gong. She was pleased and said that she was interested to have them. Then she took a CD, which contains the analysis of the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident and some other videotapes about Falun Gong.

After practising exercises in the afternoon, a journalist from the biggest newspaper in Sweden, interviewed us. Photographers took many pictures of our practice. The journalist, a very outspoken person, upon hearing that Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted by the Jiang Zemin's regime, remarked, “I have never left Europe. I couldn’t understand why such a cruel act happened in the 21st century. Why did they suppress Falun Gong? It is unreasonable. What’s wrong with the authorities?” He also mentioned the chance encounter he had today. He said, “I passed by your practice site in a hurry this morning. I intended to watch the practice, but I was in a rush so I took a flyer and left. I met you all again this afternoon. Unexpectedly, I saw a practitioner in front, standing there with a smile. She exuded joy and relaxation from her interior to exterior.” He couldn’t help going forward to chat with her. After interviewing us, he then introduced Falun Gong to his friends and invited us to his office to teach them the exercises.
There is a saying that “ people with predestined relationships will come from of thousands miles away to meet together.”
