As a primary school pupil, I used to enjoy the love of both my mother and father. However, because of the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin and his followers, my life has totally changed.
My father is a Falun Gong practitioner. After he started practicing Falun Gong, he quit smoking and drinking and became willing to help others. He showed great respect for my grandpa and grandma and thus brought much happiness and harmony to my family. I was very happy to live in such a family.
One day, when father was doing business at his booth, a couple of policemen showed up and said to him, "Come with us." "Why?" my father asked. "Because you are a Falun Gong practitioner," they replied. That was the first time my father was arrested. Since then, whenever a holiday would come around, police arrested him for no reason. Finally, he was sent to a forced-labour camp for three years of "re-education." All this deeply hurt my heart and, as a result, I felt despondent and my grades in school dropped. My old and infirm grandpa and grandma were left unattended. My grandma cried every day so that her eyes cannot see things anymore.
I am very depressed. I really don't understand why they send good people to jail while leaving bad people free. There are thousands of children like me in China, whose parents are sent to forced-labour camps. They are forced to leave their schools. Some are no longer able to enjoy hot meals, have no new clothes to wear, or even are left with no choice but to become homeless and roam the streets. Bad people like Jiang Zemin and his followers have brought pain to so many people like my father in China, brought the pain of losing a parents love for their children like me and brought pain to grandparents.
I hereby appeal to all kind-hearted people in the world to help us resist the persecution. I hope international human rights groups can come to investigate the situation in China. What I need is a family with both a mother and a father. This is the heartfelt wish of a twelve-year old Chinese pupil, me.
Please return the love of our parents to us. Our grandpas and grandmas are also longing for the return of our fathers with tears in their eyes. They too need the presence of our parents. We all hope for a return to a happy family life.
