European Falun Gong Practitioners in Manhattan: "This persecution is a danger to everyone"

Since the 31st of October the weather in Manhattan of New York has been much warmer now for three consecutive days. Some said it was good for those Falun Gong practitioners who take part in the anti-torture exhibitions. If it had been as cold as last week, it would have been very tough for the practitioners taking part in the activities.

Over the past three days many people have accepted information about Falun Gong and the brutal persecution. Within twenty minutes we might hand out more than a hundred copies, with many people accepting our materials after they had viewed our display boards detailing what Falun Gong is and the facts surrounding the persecution.

The two-sided foldable display boards prepared by Falun Gong practitioners from Taiwan are convenient as they enable people to understand what Falun Gong is and that it is been harshly persecuted by the former President of China Jiang Zemin and his clique. They are very useful for those who are unable to speak English and so many practitioners want to use this method to allow people to find out more about Falun Gong.

On Sunday, several practitioners at the anti-torture exhibition were responsible for telling the passersby the facts of Falun Gong as well as the persecution. Some people originally didn’t want to accept our material, but after seeing the torture scene being acted out, they said “Falun Gong is good! Falun Gong is good!” Some even pressed their hands together in front their of their chests and said thanks to us. Still others who didn’t want to accept the materials told people around them what Falun Gong is all about.

During the past three days, I walked down the streets holding a display board with a picture of someone reenacting being tortured. I noticed that many people would greet you with a pleasant smile as soon as they learnt that we were talking about Falun Gong.

On 79th street, after a Falun Gong practitioner explained the facts to an African American in his 50’s, who then went on to tell another youngster who was passing by about the facts. He solemnly said: “This persecution is a danger to anyone, and this persecution can be found everywhere." He said it in such a natural and fluid way that people thus accepted our Falun Gong related materials.

After the days activities were over, practitioners could still hear these words going around their ears: “This persecution is a danger to anyone, and this persecution is everywhere.”
