In the last few weeks, practitioners in Slovakia visited several cities to tell the inhabitants about the practice of Falun Gong and raise awareness of the persecution against practitioners in China.
On Saturday October the 23rd the practitioners visited Komarno, a small town in southern Slovakia. As soon as they put up their posters revealing the torture methods used to force practitioners to give up their beliefs, an old man came over and asked, “Is this really happening in China? Please give me two more flyers. I am going to meet my two friends. I have to tell them.” A policeman came over to tell us that if we are going to come to Komarno again, we should choose a better place with more people. He gave us directions to the best and busiest spot.
On the first Saturday in November, the practitioners visited Prievidza, an old town in the middle of Slovakia. When one younger man saw our posters, he told us, “It’s truly bad that all this is hidden from the world. I appreciate you using this peaceful method. Don’t add to the Communist Party’s violence.” One lady asked us, “I am going to the library. Give me a handful of your fliers and I will take them there. People there could also be interested. I can also give them to my friends.”
A few Chinese people came out of a nearby restaurant. At first they seemed hostile but after we told them about the genocide that is happening to Falun Gong practitioners in China they asked for extra flyers to take away and show others. The lies that former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin created using China's state-controlled media cannot fool people for ever. Many people are now realising the truth and want to help the suffering Falun Gong practitioners.
On the following two weekends, the practitioners went to Bratislava and Nove Zamky. Before the banners were even unfolded, people in Bratislava came over to sign the petition calling for an end to the persecution and many pledged their support for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.
Soon after the practitioners arrived in Nove Zamky it started to snow heavily and the posters were soon covered. Nevertheless, many people stopped by to clear the snow and read the posters before signing the petition. A local television station came to report on our activity. They called to check we would turn up because of the snow but we assured them that stopping the persecution in China is important to us and we wouldn’t be discouraged by the weather.
