Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Yan from Inner Mongolia was 55 years old. She was formerly employed at a branch of the Industry and Commerce Bank in Dayangshu Town, Elunchun Qi, Inner Mongolia, but was forced to retire and buy out her retirement entitlement. She was subjected to illegal arrests and harassment and died on October 25th, 2004, as a result of such persecution.
In the beginning of November 1999, Liu Yan was illegally arrested and sent to the Dayangshu Forestry Detention Centre (the Forestry Supervision Brigade) for three months.
After her release, the local police went to her home to harass her many times. On the evening of April 25th, 2004, the head of the Dayangshu Forestry Police Station arrested her again and detained her in the forestry detention centre for 36 days. She suffered severe physical and mental torment during her detention and showed symptoms of severe illnesses. She was released after being fined 5,000 yuan. On the evening of July 19, Luu Wenqi, head of the Forestry National Security Division, and others again went to harass her at her home. Liu Yan died on October 25th, 2004, as a result of this persecution.
