“Golden Lotus Blossoms” |
Editors’ Note: Since the former President of China and dictator, Jiang Zemin and his henchmen started to persecute Falun Gong on the 20th of July, 1999, more than 1121 Falun Gong practitioners are firmed to have died from the persecution as of the 15th of November, 2004. The actual number is significantly higher, however. According to the government's own official internal statistics, the number of practitioners who died after being arrested had reached 1,600 by the end of 2001. The Chinese police illegally ransacked Falun Gong practitioners’ homes and looted their personal property. Millions of practitioners have been sent to forced labour camps and prisons where they have been subject to both mental and physical torture. Falun Gong practitioners’ children have become victims of the senseless persecution. Some Falun Gong practitioners’ children have become homeless after the police abducted their parents. Some have been left to the care of their elderly grandparents who are barely capable of living independently. Some have been illegally detained in prison along with their parents. Some practitioners’ children have become homeless orphans after their parents were tortured to death. Falun Gong practitioners who are artists are now revealing to the world with their paintbrushes that innocent children in China are also victims of Jiang Zemin’s persecution. They hope their artwork will help raise the world’s people’s awareness, conscience and their help to end the inhumane persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and their children.
“Golden Lotus Blossoms” portrays the story of a Falun Gong practitioner and her baby boy who were tortured to death after the Chinese police had abducted them. This painting represents a true story that happened in China in 2000.
Ms. Wang Lixuan, age 27, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Nangou Village, Qixiasikou Town of Shangdong Province. Her son, Meng Hao, was less than eight months old when he was killed.
Since Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners on the 20th of July, 1999, Wang went to Beijing to peacefully and lawfully appeal for the restoration of the good standing of Falun Gong and its practitioners eight times, including three times when she was pregnant and twice together with her son. On the 21st of October, 2000, the police seized her and her baby boy while they were on her way to Beijing. On November 7, 2000, the police abducted Wang and her baby boy while they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Tiananmen Square. Because Wang Lixuan used to work for a company in the Yantai Development District, a policeman named Mou from the public security bureau in the Yantai Development District took them to the Yantai Development District’s office in Beijing located on the 18th floor of Hua’ao Centre, and kept them there under watch. Around 4:00 p.m. that day, Wang and her baby boy were reported to have fallen from the balcony of the 18th floor. They died instantly. It was a horrible scene.
Wang Lixuan’s mother Ms. Li Xiuxiang is also a Falun Gong practitioner. When her husband received the death notice and arrived in Beijing with some other family members, they found the frozen bodies of Wang Lixuan and her son.
According to the coroner’s exam: her neck and knuckle-bones were broken, her skull was sunken and there was a needle stuck in her waist. There were two deep bruises on her baby boy’s ankles. There were two black and blue spots on his head and there was blood in his nose. It was deduced that the bruises may have been caused when the torturers handcuffed little Meng Hao’s, a less than eight month old baby, ankles and hung him upside down. Jiang Zemin’s henchmen don’t even spare babies!
The tragic death of Wang Lixuan and her baby boy requires further investigation. The truth will certainly surface when the persecution is over and the Chinese Communist government stops the information block. When the day comes, Jiang Zemin and his henchmen will be brought to justice!
