Good evening. I’m honoured to speak to you.
First, I wish to introduce myself. I’m Mr. Roemer from Falkenstein and I am a volunteer in the counties of Cham and Regensburg for the International Society for Human Rights, located in Frankfurt.
Tonight in Cham, we are experiencing something out of the ordinary, something that has probably never occurred in this area before. An innocent lady, who has been persecuted in the country with the worst human rights record, will tell us about her prison and forced labour camp experiences.
I welcome with deeply felt happiness Ms. Xiong Wei. It is the most wonderful feeling to know that you escaped the state-sanctioned Chinese terrorist system and are able to practise Falun Gong freely once more without being persecuted. Welcome back with all my heart.
This happy occasion could only be accomplished with the help of the German Government, many friends and in particular with the help of the human rights organisation, the International Society for Human Rights.
Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is a traditional meditation practice. Falun Gong has no desire to get involved in politics. This peaceful movement is governed by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Are such principles a reason to be cruelly and insanely persecuted? Every country should be honoured to have citizens living by such principles. Over seventy million people practised Falun Gong in China.
Falun Gong was introduced to the public in 1992. In 1999, the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin initiated police terrorist activities that included mass arrests, arbitrary execution and the murder of Falun Gong practitioners. The so-called “6-10 Office” ordered the murder, as well as torture and brainwashing. The number of victims of such murder range between 700 and 1,600. This is unbelievable when you consider that in the beginning the Chinese regime supported Falun Gong because of its health benefits to those who practised it. Tens of thousands of innocent Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned or detained in forced labour camps.
China is internationally considered the number one country for torturing her own citizens. We know that Falun Gong practitioners are not the only ones persecuted: so are Christians and the Mongolian minority, as well as the Uighurs. China also perpetrated genocide on the Tibetans and has disturbed the culture structure in that country. It is intolerable that the 2008 Olympic games are going to be held in that inhuman police state.
Although we had to make you aware of the intolerable human rights situation in China, I wish you an informative evening with Ms. Xiong Wei and enjoyable entertainment when watching the gracious dances. Please do not miss the stirring movie before the day’s events conclude.
A request from deep within my heart to all of you: Please become a human rights defender. Please begin by signing the displayed petition signature list.
