On the afternoon of December 12th, 2004, in the plaza in front of the most popular department store in Daegu, practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition to expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin's regime and the Chinese Communist Party as well as a signature drive to rescue practitioner Gao Chengnu.
Practitioners held photo exhibitions and collected signatures to rescue Gao Chengnu at this site every day last week. On Sunday, in addition to the photo exhibition and signature drive, practitioners also held an anti-torture exhibition.
Before the anti-torture exhibition began, many people came to look at the photos which revealed how the Jiang group and the Communist Party torture practitioners. Some asked, "When does the anti-torture exhibition start? I really want to see it." Right after the exhibition began, our site was immediately packed with people.
During the exhibition, our host explained the torture methods and the situation of Falun Gong in China in detail. Some young practitioners came to the site after their "Minghui School" activity and they demonstrated the graceful exercises behind the exhibition. Their demonstration also attracted much attention.
People were deeply touched by this activity and outraged by the brutality of the Jiang regime and the Chinese Communist party. A lady who had seen torture photos in Hong Kong last May said, "Hasn't the persecution ended? It is such a modernised age, and how can such a thing happen? Isn't China a place for people to live?"
With tears in her eyes, another lady asked, "Why do these things happen? Do they really treat practitioners like this?" Practitioners explained the details of the persecution to everyone and they were all shocked. Many said, "How can such an inhuman persecution happen?"
A group of people came to the site together and they were all moved to tears by the exhibition. They all signed their names to call for immediate release of Gao Chengnu. One middle-aged gentleman from this group said loudly, "This kind of thing is very common in all Communist regimes."
A practitioner who participated in collecting signatures said, "When people asked me 'what Falun Gong is,' I felt very ashamed as there are still so many people who don't know Falun Gong. I will work even harder in the future to let more people know the truth.
