Mr. Ma Dexuan, 58, was a Falun Dafa practitioner from the Wuqing District of Tianjin in China. He was unlawfully sent to various forced labour camps on numerous occasions for his belief in Falun Dafa. He became handicapped after torture and other cruel treatment by officials at Shuangkou, Qingpowa and Ji County Forced Labour Camps. In March of 2003, police tied him up with rope and took him to the Qingpowa Forced Labour Camp. As Mr. Ma considered himself innocent he went on a hunger strike as a form of peaceful appeal against the unlawful persecution he was being subjected to. Despite his extremely weak physical condition, the labour camp authorities handcuffed and shackled him, and then carried him to a vehicle to be driven to the Ji County Labour Camp for continued abuse. Mr. Ma died within days of arriving at the forced labour camp.
