Falun Gong practitioners in Germany received pre-recorded phone calls in Chinese and English on February 6th 2005. The content was fake news concocted by the Chinese Communist Government about the Tiananmen self-immolation intending to spread propaganda about Falun Gong. Both German and Chinese practitioners have received the phone calls and others of a similar nature.

The Chinese Government filmed the self-immolation on Tiananmen Square in January 2001 and used it to shock the world. Afterwards, overseas experts and Falun Gong practitioners soon discovered through analyzing the tape of the self-immolation that it was a staged event set up by the Chinese communist regime. Video-CDs revealing the truth about the self-immolation quickly spread all over China. In Germany, many of the Chinese people who live there watched the VCD and found out how the Jiang regime used this event to flood the media with anti-Falun Gong propaganda, thereby turning the Chinese people and the rest of the world against this peaceful practice and providing a more suitable environment to carry out human rights abuses against Falun Gong practitioners. Many German people also watched a German version of the film and learned that genocide is happening in China.

Florien, a Falun Gong practitioner who lives in Hamburg, told a reporter that he received the recorded phone calls in Chinese and English four times between 11 and 12 o’clock on the 6th of February. He hung up the phone immediately when he understood the content through listening to the English recording. He thought that the self-immolation that the Jiang regime staged four years ago was a crude performance. Its aim is to deceive people. At the beginning, some people completely believed it. However, Falun Gong practitioners let these people know the facts and told them about the persecutory actions of the Chinese Communist Government. Florien predicted that the recorded phone call was “the last farce” that the Chinese Communist Party could play. He intends to inform the German police about the phone calls. If he receives such phone calls again, he will record them as evidence.

Mr. Zhang, who lives in south Germany, received the same phone calls four times between twelve and two p.m. on his cell phone. The caller’s number was withheld. Mr. Zhang said that the English recording featured a person with a Chinese accent. He also suspected that the recordings were done by the Chinese Communist Party. The recordings are not only useless, but also show that the callers are afraid of exposing their identities. Mr. Zhang feels that these phone calls should be regarded as harassment. They spread hatred against Falun Gong in Germany and many other countries in which they have occurred. They have committed the crime of libel, as did the Chinese Vice-Consul in Toronto who was a defendant in a civil action in a Canadian court because he slandered Falun Gong practitioners in Canada’s Chinese media last year. Mr. Zhang is prepared to inform the German police.
