On the 13th of February, Ukrainian Dafa practitioners were invited to attend a “Love and Friendship” performance held by a children’s library, as part of Valentine’s Day celebrations.

They performed a beautiful lotus flower dance and held an activity in the name of ‘Petals of Peace’. 'Petals of Peace' symbolises hope for all the children who are suffering during the on-going persecution of Falun Gong in China. Children all over the world are encouraged to fold a paper lotus flower to help raise awareness about the suffering of our most innocent and vulnerable. Every flower is a gesture of hope that the unjust persecution will soon come to an end.

The organisation is inspired by the story of little Australian-Chinese girl Fadu and her mother. They are overcoming the loss of father and husband Chen Chengyong by bravely sharing their sad story with the world in the hope that other innocent children will no longer have to suffer injustice. Chen lost his life at the hands of police in Guangdong Province because he practised Falun Gong. After Chen's father practised Falun Gong, his illnesses disappeared. But under this merciless persecution, Chen's father couldn't take the news of his son's death. He passed away, grief-stricken.

After getting to know about “Petals of Peace” and Fadu’s story, lots of parents and children were very sympathetic and supportive towards Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering in China. The number of children like Fadu, losing parents and grandparents, continues to increase as the communist regime continue to torture and kill people for practising Falun Gong and following the principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.
