Switzerland: Candlelight Vigil and Information Stall during Basel’s Late Night Museum Opening

On January 21st, the late-night museum opening was held in Basel’s Dreiländereck, where the borders of Austria, Switzerland and Germany meet. On that night, all seventeen museums in the area stay open until two o’clock in the morning. That night is considered one of Basel’s most important cultural events and people from far and wide take advantage of this opportunity.

Practitioners held a peaceful appeal to highlight the brutal campaign of genocide that has been taking place against Falun Gong in China over the last five years. Many people learned about the persecution of Falun Gong after seeing the peaceful candle-light vigil. We were there until late at night, despite the cold weather.

Many people approached us because they wanted to find out more. Some even took a pile of leaflets home with them, as they were eager to help us tell more people about the persecution.
