Another female practitioner's husband has a relative whose son was denied entry into the military because of his distant relation to the female practitioner. After a lot of effort and the female practitioner's divorce due to pressure, the local police reluctantly agreed not to fill in the form saying that his relative practises Falun Gong. The family had to pay about 20,000 Yuan, and didn't dare to tell anyone about this matter for fear that the enrolled son would be expelled from the military.
[Note: In China, because people's legal residency is in their hometown, and this has legal implications, peasants from the countryside are usually not legally permitted to live or work in cities. Enrolling in a university or the military is almost the only way peasant children can escape from the difficult country life and make more money.]
