Starting at 8:30 pm on March 29, 2005, normal programming on several TV channels in Jinan City, Shandong Province was interrupted, and the TV program Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was broadcast. The program called on CCP members who still have a conscience to resign from the CCP. The residents of Jinan City said that the broadcast lasted over 10 minutes. Some Jinan City TV viewers who have read the Nine Commentaries said that they would like to send their best wishes to those righteous people who tapped into the TV channels.
Since the Epoch Times published its editorial series Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party overseas in November 2004, close to 600,000 people have broken through the Internet blockade and accessed to The Epoch Times' "Quitting the CCP" website to publish their resignation statements to withdraw from the CCP, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers. The total number of people declaring their resignations is for the most part increasing daily.
According to one report, large numbers of resignation statements have also appeared at street announcement boards and in the corridors of institutions in Jilin City, Dalian City and other places. However, this is the first time that residents of Jinan City received the resignation information from a TV program.
