The performance took place at Karlsplatz in Munich on 13th May 2005. Falun Gong practitioners from Bavaria met together to hold activities to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day and the 13th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public. As soon as the practitioners who took part in the waist drum performance arrived on the square, the public were very curious. The elderly couple were even going round the practitioners one-by-one making detailed inquiries. When they were told that they had to wait for a while until the performance started, they simply found a place nearby to sit down and waited patiently.

Falun Gong has been popular since it was introduced publicly in 1992. At the beginning of the persecution in 1999, Falun Gong was already practised in over thirty countries, including Taiwan, United States, Australia, and throughout Europe. According to the main Falun Dafa website, Minghui.net, in the six years since the start of the persecution, Falun Gong has spread to seventy-eight countries, something that was not expected by the Chinese Communist Party who are carrying out the human rights abuses.
The performance started. The call of “Falun Gong is Great” in a deafening sound of gongs and drums attracted people to the square. Many people were seriously looking at the exhibition boards where they could read an introduction to Falun Gong and its spread all over the world. People came to the stage asking what Falun Gong is and where they can learn the exercises. They all felt astonished when they heard that such a good practice was being brutally persecuted in China. They were eager to find out why the Chinese Government is persecuting Falun Gong and how they could help the practitioners in China.

The elderly couple stayed there for a long, long time. After watching the waist drum performance and a demonstration of the five sets of Falun Gong exercises, the old man lowered his head, seriously reading the leaflet in his hands. What they took home with them was not only their appreciation for the costumes of Falun Gong practitioners; we believe that the goodliness of Falun Gong was already imprinted deep in their hearts.
