On the17th of May, Falun Gong practitioners were once again invited to hold a seminar for students at a college in Dalarna. The Falun Gong seminars are widely appreciated and have almost become like a tradition for students during the spring and autumn term. This time even the students who study through long-distance education had the chance to get an introduction to Falun Gong via web television.
Practitioners presented themselves and told the audience how they first encountered Falun Gong and how they have benefited from the practice. They also showed a film about the ongoing persecution in China.
After the film, the students had the chance to try the first set of exercises before a discussion about the practice, the persecution in China and human rights was opened. The students raised many questions about Falun Gong and practitioners answered them as well as they could. The students were moved by the brutal persecution and raised questions about consumer goods that might have been made by practitioners in forced labour camps, the similarity between this persecution and other persecutions in the world’s dictatorships, and about the Chinese Communist Party’s supression of freedom of belief.
After the seminar the students came to the front to get leaflets and to sign the petition calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
