In order to draw attention to the plight of the orphaned children of Falun Gong practitioners, who have been tortured to death in China, Falun Gong practitioners held a non-profit concert in St. James Square off Prince's Street. The date was August 7th, 2005, the first day of the Edinburgh International Arts Festival.

The different performances allowed passersby to experience the peaceful nature of Falun Dafa practice, in stark contrast to the brutal nature of the suffering experienced by practitioners at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The on-going persecution has affected many innocent Chinese children, whose parents have been killed or imprisoned after they refused to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. Some of them have died in grief and misery while others are living in difficult conditions.

The unusual and unique concert was popular with visitors to the Festival and locals alike. Many stayed for a long time to watch.
One of the performers in the show was a female singer from Argentina. After finding out about the concert from her daughter, she sang a very touching and engaging song to encourage people to not give up their work and save these poor children.
Throughout the whole concert, there was always a large number of people signing the petition to help rescue Falun Gong children. Sometimes people even had to line up to wait for a chance to sign the petition.
