Widely-circulated Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende published a report on the 28th of August 2005 written by famous journalist Sren Hebsgaard. The article was about a lawsuit filed by Falun Gong practitioners against the Chinese Communist Party’s Procurator General Jia Chunwang. Below is a translation of the article.
Denmark will be investigating China’s Procurator General regarding claims of extensive torture and human-rights violations against thousands of Falun Gong practitioners.
China’s Procurator General will not only be welcomed by our own Procurator General Henning Fode, when he arrives to Denmark to attend a conference for prosecutors worldwide.
The Danish Falun Gong Association intends to file a lawsuit against Jia Chunwang, the former minister of public security, for the systematic torture and killing of thousands of innocent practitioners of Falun Gong. And Denmark must not let this man go, explains the association’s spokesperson Marco Hsu.
“Jia Chunwang is at the top of the so-called “6-10 Office”, which was set up with the sole purpose of eliminating Falun Gong. Therefore he is responsible for all that has happened and he will be brought to court.”
Marco Hsu refers to a UN-report, which reveals that more than 3.000 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death during the last 6 years, while over 6.000 have received prison sentences with terms of up to 18 years. Many thousand have been tortured since China banned Falun Gong in 1999and started its systematic crackdown against the movement which had 70 to 100 million Chinese practitioners.
“There are no limits to what they do. People are for example bound up so they form a ball, and then lie helpless on the ground for 14 days. They are shocked by 30.000 volt cattle prods or are thrown into icy water,” explains Marco Hsu.
Denmark is compelled to act in response to the complaint.
“According to the UN Convention Against Torture, we are obliged to initiate an investigation,” says Tyge Trier, judicial advisor for the Danish Falun Gong Association.
The Association says that it can provide enough solid evidence to prove Jia Chunwang’s role concerning the murders ensuring that he is held in Denmark while investigations proceed.
