Swedish Practitioners Meet Liberal Party Members in Parliament

At the end of last year Falun Gong practitioners were invited by the Liberal Party in the Swedish parliament to inform them of the recent situation concerning Falun Gong.

We started by telling members of the party about the principles of Falun Gong, and thereafter we told them how severe the situation is in China and that the persecution is continuing to worsen. We also told them how the Chinese embassies in Europe and the world, under orders of President Jiang Zemin, have intensified the dissemination of propaganda, lies and fabrications to the public, politicians, libraries etc. in an attempt to further mislead people in the west, and to justify their own criminal acts.

Two of the Swedish practitioners who took part in the peaceful demonstration in Beijing in November last year told of their experiences of the event. They spoke of how badly and disrespectfully they were treated by the Chinese police, and how several of the practitioners were beaten and terrorized during the arrest and in the police station. They also explained why they had chosen to go despite the risks, and why they found it to be such an important act. The listeners were very interested and understood how severe the situation is. They were also eager to help to get an immediate end to the persecution.

Finally we were given the opportunity to attend their group meeting. Harald Nordlund, the Member of Parliament, introduced us with the following words: I was walking along the Avenue when I heard tranquil, oriental music. And there these people came, dressed in white and yellow, slowly walking towards the”Gotasquare”. It was so beautiful and peaceful – this took place at the same Avenue which a few hours earlier had been left empty and destroyed by the riots. I’ll never forget this scene! Later I spoke to a woman from the parade, she told me that a policeman had come up to her and said:”Why didn’t you come earlier?” Those words have stayed in my head,”Why didn’t you come earlier?” (This happened during the world economic summit in Gothenburg, in June 2001, when about 600 Falun Gong practitioners held a parade in the city).

We introduced ourselves, showed a few minutes of the video clarifying the truth behind the “self-immolation” incident, to show how Jiang Zemin and his followers had arranged the whole event in order to put the blame on Falun Gong. We also left them information about Falun Gong and the situation in China. We left a petition for them to sign which was aimed at the Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson and which called on the Swedish government to act even stronger in this issue. When we received the petition back, it had been signed by a big majority of the Liberal Party’s members, only a few names were missing. It was a very positive opportunity for us to be able to meet almost everyone in their parliamentary group at the same time in order to clarify the truth about the horrible persecution of Falun Gong practitioners instigated by President Jiang Zemin.
