On the morning of November 2nd, 2005, practitioners in Vancouver held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate to announce the lawsuit against Lin Yanzhi, Deputy Secretary of Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), who is currently visiting Canada. He was sued in Toronto for his active participation in the persecution of Falun Gong. The practitioners read the Falun Dafa Association Announcement to the CCP officials in the consulate and warned those involved in the persecution, including diplomats in Chinese embassies and consulates, to stop their wrongdoing and correct their mistakes.

The investigation by The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) found that Lin Yanzhi personally directed and participated in the persecution of Falun Gong. In 2001, Lin went to the Siping Labour Camp, Songyuan Labour Camp, Changchun Labour Camp and brainwashing centres to direct the persecution of practitioners.
According to WOIPFG's investigation, while inspecting the progress of the "conversion of Falun Gong practitioners" at the Siping City Forced Labour Camp, Lin said: "If you refuse to denounce Falun Gong after one year of detention, we will detain you for two years; if two years is not enough, then three years; if you refuse to convert (denounce Falun Gong) after three years of detention, we will detain you for ten years. In China, there are about 100,000 steadfast practitioners. China has 1.2 billion people, if these 100,000 refuse to convert, we can do anything to them--we can suppress or kill them. One hundred thousand is just a small number for us. Even if we kill all 2 million practitioners, the reign of our communist party won't be affected...If you refuse to denounce Falun Gong, we will beat you without mercy, we can beat you to death. We'd rather beat you to death than allow you to go to Beijing..."
The Canadian Falun Dafa Association has submitted evidence of Lin's involvement in the persecution to the Canadian Royal Mounted Police (CRMP) and requested the CRMP to launch an investigation of Lin's crimes, and arrest and deport him according to Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Programme.
Practitioners also read the announcement to warn CCP officials, "Heaven's destruction of the CCP is a historical inevitability. Those criminals who have persecuted Falun Dafa will be punished. Those who refuse to do the right thing and instead continue to follow the Jiang regime's persecutory policies will be severely punished as perpetrators of unforgivable crimes."
Lin is the second provincial level official sued after publication of the announcement. The first one is Guandong Governor Huang Huahua, who was sued in a Vancouver court for the crime of torture. Fearing to face justice, Huang terminated his visit to North America and fled back to China from Canada on October 25th, 2005.
Practitioners in Alberta request investigation of Lin's involvement in persecution of Falun Gong

The lawsuit was filed on October 28th, 2005 in Toronto while Lin was visiting Canada.
