Examples of Some Methods Used By Corrupt Officials To Persecute Practitioners

1. Policemen Entice Someone to Commit Self-Immolation for a Cash Reward

Qichun County, Hubei Province

According to information from someone with a sense of justice, policemen from the No.1 Section of Qichun County's Police Department in Hubei Province told a man who once practiced Falun Gong, "If you commit self-immolation in Tiananmen Square, you will get 50,000 Yuan [300 Yuan is the average monthly income in rural China] in cash and we guarantee you will not be burned." The man refused the proposal.

2. Wardens Order Criminals to Act as Falun Gong Practitioners in "Transformation" TV Programme

One day, a colleague, Xiaoming, told a practitioner named Daqiang, "Hey, I just knew Falun Gong practitioners were falsely accused. The day before yesterday I went to visit my relative who is working in the city police department. I said to him, "The Falun Gong practitioners I know are all steadfast. They always tell us how good Falun Gong is. How come there are a lot of them being "transformed" as shown on TV?" My relative sighed, "Oh, those programmes are misleading you guys. The true practitioners detained in jails are all very determined. When reporters from TV stations come to shoot some propaganda programme in the jails, the practitioners all adamantly refused to participate, no matter how hard the policemen beat them. Policemen had no alternative but to order the common criminals to act according to the script and prepare lines beforehand. After the reporters finished the filming, we were done with our task."

Xiaoming said, "After I heard my police relative's words, I suddenly knew the government is actually fabricating the news."

3. Court Officials in the Ranghulu District Attempt to Illegally Sentence Falun Gong Practitioners

Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province

On Wednesday, February 6, 2002, the officers of the court in the Ranghulu District of Daqing City will attempt to sentence practitioners Guan Fenglan, Xiao Ailing, Jiao Chunfu, Zhong Zhaoqing, and Sun Yanhui. Xiao Ailing, one of those practitioners, has been on a hunger strike for nearly 90 days.

4. Court Officials in the Wuchang District Illegally Sentence Falun Gong Practitioners

Wuhan City, Hubei Province

On January 15, 2001, officers of the court in the Wuchang District illegally sentenced practitioners Zhou Xiaojun, Xu Jiawen, and others. The sentences were as follows:
Zhou Xiaojun: 4 years of imprisonment; Xu Jiawen: 4 years; Yuan Qing: 4 years; Xu Sijing (works in Hubei Province's Education Department): 3 years; Zhou Zhihua: 3 years; Zhou Qiong: 3 years.

All of the above practitioners were sentenced to jail because they clarified the truth of Falun Gong and exposed the crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners.

5. Policemen's Illegal Activities

Anshan City, Liaoning Province

After 19 practitioners openly and with dignity walked out of the No.3 Detention Centre, abusive policemen from Anshan City of Liaoning Province began to search all practitioners' homes. Now over 40 practitioners have been detained. The entire city is in an uproar.

6. Policemen from Chaoyang District Kidnap a Practitioner's Son, Who is not a Practitioner

Beijing

An older female Falun Gong practitioner in the Chaoyang District took her little granddaughter in a stroller to distribute Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. She took the remaining materials home. Her son, who didn’t practice Falun Gong found the materials. As he feared his mother would be arrested for distributing the flyers, he himself took those remaining flyers and posted them in the streets. A policeman found him after he had only posted several flyers. The policeman knew this man didn’t practice Falun Gong as he found cigarettes in his pocket. Nevertheless, the policemen ransacked his home in the middle of the night. They found some Falun Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials, they then detained him for 15 days.
Because the New Year's holiday is coming, policemen, going door-to-door, have begun to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. They came to this man's home and detained him again.

7. Falun Falun Dafa Practitioners in Shiyan City Sentenced to Lengthy Jail Terms Without Due Process of Law

Shiyan City, Hubei Province

On the afternoon of December 27, 2001, personnel from the Shiyan City government secretly sentenced a group of Falun Dafa practitioners, including Cai Ziwu, former Shiyan City Falun Dafa Station instructor to 7 years in jail; Wang Zihu, 4 years in jail; Du Liangen, 4 years in jail; Zi Shusong, 4 years in jail; Huang Junling, 3 years in jail.

8. Police Authorities Force People to Commit Crimes

Xuanhua City, Hebei Province

Right now, vicious police in Xuanhua City, Hebei Province requested that each local work unit have three to four people at the police department's disposal and organize a thousand-person-strong "joint security group." These people often harass Falun Dafa practitioners and illegally search practitioners' homes. […]

9. Policemen Kidnap Practitioners Using the Excuse of "Collecting Household Power Dues"

Songyuan City, Jilin Province

On January 26, 2002 policemen from sub-unit No. 2 of Songyuan City, Jilin Province and Qianguo Oil Manufacturing Police Office used the excuse of collecting "household power dues" to break into the home of female practitioner Chen Xiuying, a retired employee of the Qianguo Oil Manufacturing Company. Her home was illegally searched. The police took away Falun Dafa books and Teacher Li's photo. The same day, vicious ruffians broke into the home of practitioner Liu Fengru, a 51-year-old retired employee of the Qianguo Oil Manufacturing Company. His home was also illegally searched. Police officers additionally kidnapped two other practitioners and took them to an undisclosed location.

10. Falun Falun Dafa Practitioners Go To Beijing to Safeguard Falun Dafa; Arrested by Police and Whereabouts Unknown

Hefei City, An'hui Province

In October 2001, practitioner Ma Yunzhong, who was a teacher, and other Falun Dafa practitioners from Feidong County of Hefei City, An'hui Province went to Tiananmen Square to unfurl banners and appeal for a stop to the persecution of Falun Dafa for the second time. Police officers illegally arrested and detained them and their whereabouts are still unknown.
