Tsing-Hua University Alumnus Tries to Persuade Hu Jintao: Stop Persecuting Falun Gong

During Hu Jintao's visit to Germany, I wanted to convey in person from Finland to Berlin such information as "stop persecuting Falun Gong" and "Falun Gong is good" to Hu Jintao. On one hand it was because I am a Falun Gong practitioner and I was obliged to speak out for Falun Gong practitioners who were suffering from the brutal prosecution in China since I was abroad. On the other hand, I was Hu Jintao's alumnus at Tsing-Hua University. At this historic moment, I also wanted to take this opportunity to directly transmit this important information to him.

From the afternoon of the 10th to the morning of the 12th, Falun Gong practitioners from nearly twenty different countries engaged in a petition near Hotel Adlon where Hu Jintao stayed, appealing for the termination of the persecution of Falun Gong. On the 11th of November, 2005, Hu Jintao paid a visit to such places as the Congress of Germany and the Premier's office. The following is my experience of that day:

Showing the Falun Gong banner to the Chinese delegation for the first time

When I approached the crossing near Hotel Aldon, the surrounding area was covered with police cars and police in a semi martial law readiness. I stood on the opposite side of the hotel. When the motorcycles of the motorcade that led the way for Hu Jintao started, I stood in the roadside and unfolded the Falun Gong banner. The motorcade passed me about ten meters in front. The people inside the cars could clearly see the information on my banner and so I felt that I had successfully transmitted what I wanted to tell them.

Later, the area was heavily guarded and so I waited in a shop. A policeman came to ask me to leave. I told him: "I came from Finland. I know the leader of China was coming to Germany. I have saved up from my living costs and airline ticket to be here, I want to tell Hu Jintao to immediately stop persecuting Falun Gong. More than two thousand people practise Falun Gong in China, people like me who are only trying to be good have been persecuted to death by the Communist Party in China." He said it was his job. I said: "I understand, but I think Germany should abide by its own law and should not listen to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)." The policeman then no longer asked me to leave, yet stood in front of me until the motorcade left.

When I wanted to use a crossing I was stopped by a policeman. Thus I told three policemen about the truth of Falun Gong. When I wanted to walk to the intersections at the Hotel Adlon I was intercepted by a male and a female secret service agent, who wanted me to leave and go in the opposite direction. I walked towards the direction that the policemen would not allow me to go.

Hu Jintao Once Again Sees, "Falun Dafa is good"

I came to one side of the large lawn between the Congress and the Premier's office. A platoon of policemen stood opposite the road, but there was no one on my side as if I was arranged to come here to display "Falun Gong is good." The motorcade then approached and I called out "Hu Jintao, the time the God’s and people have given you is limited" and "Falun Gong is good" while showing the banner. I also heard a western practitioner at my side simultaneously chanting. The motorcade passed, yet I still held the banner high. A German couple said to me with their thumbs up: "Good!" I immediately found some materials in English exposing the persecution in my schoolbag and passed it to them. They expressed their gratitude repeatedly.

Telling the truth

I distributed another leaflet containing information about Falun Gong and the persecution to pedestrians in front of the Congress. A plainclothes security agent smiled at me from a distance. I asked him whether he wanted a copy? He nodded, thus I approached him and passed him the material immediately. I told him about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party¹, my experience of witnessing the army shoot the students and citizens at Tiananmen Square in 1989, my experience of being put into prison for publicly withdrawing from the CPP, how I suffered from a stroke after being subjected to electric shock torture, and the truth of how Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted. He listened and nodded repeatedly. I asked him whether he could understand my poor English, he replied, “Yes”.

Later the motorcade was going to pass the road in front of the Premier's office. The Germans brought in some soldiers to clear the field and to push the dispersed practitioners away from the roadside. I was forced back and spoke the truth at the same time and told them why we were here. Meanwhile, I opened the banner. When the motorcade passed, three soldiers stood in front of me. I tried my best to hold the banner high. The person on my right pressed my hand downwards; the one on my left tried to unclasp my fingers on the banner. I said with tears in my eyes that I only wanted to tell the leader of China to stop persecuting Falun Gong and that they you should help me rather than listen to the CCP. The one in the middle said something, and then both my hands were unclasped.

When I was about to leave, a young couple said that they wanted to take a picture with me and the banner, I happily agreed. The young man introduced that he was from Poland and his girlfriend is Greek. I chatted to them about Falun Gong and the persecution. The young man said, "I understand, because Poland used to be ruled under Communism. When I gave out some more materials about to the pedestrians, a Chinese person took a picture of me secretly. I approached him and wanted to tell him with a smile: "Come, take whatever picture you want. Yet he turned round and ran away. I followed him and saw a group of people resting there. I passed some materials about Falun Gong in Chinese, when a tall boy approached me, saying provocatively: "Fire, do you understand fire?" I said with a smile: "No" "I am an old lady, I can't understand what he said. Maybe it is how youth’s talk today."

Then I asked them: "Have you visited Dajiyuan's website? Have you seen the Nine Commentaries of the Communist Party? Since it was published last November, already more than 5,400,000 people have withdrawn from the CCP. I found a lot of Chinese people have left the CCP." At this moment, a student said: "They are not the same." I said: "Absolutely, they are not the same." Then another student said: "Without the Communist Party, what would China do?" I said: "China will be better. The majority of the countries in the world aren’t ruled under Communism. Neither is Taiwan and yet any people in Taiwan live a better life than many people living in China." A student replied: "The Taiwanese don’t live that good a lives."

I said: "Then you were deceived by the Communist Party. I was also deceived. I lived in Xinjiang while I was a child and have been thinking all the time that the ethnic minority liked to make trouble and disturb the peace. Then I saw on the Dajiyuan website the story about a former Xinjiang soldier who was on the run. He said that in a crackdown on the rebels from the ethnic minority in southern Xinjiang, the higher authorities ordered to have the whole village killed. Because he could not bear to kill a baby, he was persecuted by the CCP and fled to a foreign country. I came to understand a lot after reading the story. My idea was reinforced by the CCP's long-term lies. In the Tiananmen incident in 1989, the Communist Party of China claimed that no one died in Tiananmen Square. I was around the Beijing first-aid centre's gate near Tiananmen in the evening of the 4th of June, 1989 and saw dead and wounded students and citizens were sent in from Tiananmen continuously. This is a bloody fact that I saw in person. I withdrew from the CPP on the same day, yet was put into prison and suffered electric shock treatment." At this moment a student said: "Falun Gong is not good, they burned themselves to death." I said: "I was in Beijing at that time. The next day I had a class reunion and I told them at that time it was a frame-up. Those people were not Falun Gong practitioners at all. The case was flawed. You were very lucky to be able to live abroad. I did not intend to force upon you my viewpoint. I just hope that you can go to Dajiyuan's website so that you can come to understand more about it. I believe that you will make your own correct judgement." At this time, several students said, "Say no more, our teacher is coming. I asked what teacher? They said from the Embassy. Then I saw a young student was taking a picture of practitioners. I approached him and gave him some materials, which he joyfully accepted. Then I learnt that he was from Hong Kong. I told him that a group of mainland students dared not receive the materials and so they don’t yet know the facts. I told him that I hoped he could chat with his classmates from mainland China, which will be good for everyone. He said OK.

At night we heard that Hu's motorcade will pass our night watch spot, many Chinese and western practitioners shouted with high-pitch speakers: "Hu Jintao, the time that the God’s and the people have given you is limited!" "Falun Gong is good" "stop persecuting Falun Gong!" The voices broke into the night sky and shook people's hearts. I believe that Hu Jintao also heard it from the hotel.
