On the morning of December 24th, some Falun Gong practitioners noticed that the Falun Dafa Billboard near the busy No. 2 Middle Ring Road in Kuala Lumpur was smeared with purple paint. When practitioners came to take photos of the scene at 2:00 p.m., they noticed that there was a bucket of purple paint under the billboard in which there was still one to two inches of wet paint left. At the same time, there was a plastic bag used for the purple paint, marked "Tesco," left on the hook of a metal frame under the billboard. There were also some paint stains on the grass below the billboard.
At the press conference, practitioners held banners reading, "Falun Dafa is Good," and "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong" so that reporters and passing by vehicles could see them. Many vehicles slowed down while passing to watch the truth clarification banners and the scene of exposing the evil.
According to local practitioners, the Chinese Embassy officials often pass through this road when heading to the embassy, and can see this huge billboard displayed near the road all the time. Prior to this incident, a Falun Gong practitioner once talked with a staff member at the Chinese Embassy who said that the Embassy officials felt annoyed when passing by the billboard, and disliked seeing it. The practitioners wanted to ask more about it, but the staff dared not say more due to pressure.
Because the Chinese Embassy has exerted pressure behind the scenes, Malaysia Falun Gong practitioners have been facing all kinds of interference since putting up the Falun Dafa billboard.
In January 2004, the huge billboard put up near North-South Road connecting all big states in northern and southern Malaysia was unreasonably taken down by the authorities. The general situation is that the advertising company would first put up billboards after receiving oral approval from the town council, and then wait for written approval from the town council. The Falun Gong billboard was also put up this way, but later the advertising company was ordered to take it down.
In December 2004, a Falun Dafa banner displayed at a district in Kuala Lumpur was also unreasonably taken down without notifying practitioners in advance. The practitioner who was in charge of this matter had followed the proper procedures with the application, but after the banner had been displayed for nearly a month, the town council took the banner down without notifying practitioner's. Later, practitioners went to officials from all relevant departments to explain the facts that the Chinese Communist regime persecutes Falun Gong, and the town council ultimately approved to continue displaying the Falun Dafa banner.
With the efforts of truth clarification almost a year ago, Falun Gong practitioners have received permission to again put up the billboard near No. 2 Middle Ring Road in Kuala Lumpur. Over the past year, countless people have seen the beauty of Falun Dafa and peacefulness of Falun Dafa practitioners. This incident of maliciously smearing the billboard, revealed the evil regime's jealousy and fear of Falun Dafa's popularity.
In addition, according to newspaper reports, and staff from certain departments, the Chinese Embassy has been exerting pressure to relevant departments of Malaysia to reject Falun Gong's registration application as an organisation, and it also attempted to influence relevant departments to cancel the Falun Dafa Research Centre established in May 2003. Falun Gong practitioners expressed that they would double their efforts to clarify the truth to people from all walks of life. The interference will definitely not succeed.
Falun Gong practitioners have reported the malicious smearing of the billboard to the police. They requested that the police investigate the incident, acknowledge the continuous interference inflicted upon Falun Gong practitioners in Malaysia, and assist in preventing similar incidents from recurring.
