On January 27th, 2006, over 1000 teachers and teacher assistants went to Sierra Vista for a conference on improving education. The teachers exchanged their ideas and experiences with new teaching methods and subjects. With help from a local practitioner, we introduced Falun Dafa at the conference.
Many teachers and assistants come to Falun Gong's table to learn the truth |
We displayed colourful banners, flyers, and paper lotus flowers at our table. Many teachers and assistants stopped by to look and asked how to make the paper lotus flowers. We demonstrated the procedure and explained the meaning of the flower. Lotus flowers grow from mud but they are not spoiled by the dirt. The flowers are pure and beautiful and display a majestic quality. We told the teachers that we use lotus flowers to praise those Falun Gong practitioners in China who persist their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" in an environment full of lies, harassment and tortures. We suggested that they teach their students to make the paper lotus flowers in the classroom as an introduction to the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" as well as to the tradition of Chinese culture. We told them that the Chinese Communist Party is systematically destroying the traditional Chinese culture. We showed them the book "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" [An Epoch Times publication. For more information, visit www.theepochtimes.com] Many teachers asked for a copy of the Nine Commentaries for reference.
Some teachers showed more interest in the exercises and wanted to learn them. One teacher invited local practitioners to introduce Falun Gong and the Nine Commentaries in her social studies class. Even many mathematics teaches wanted to use lotus flower in their classrooms. Some teachers were very concerned about the Falun Gong orphans in China and asked for a VCD of the rescue project.
The teachers were open-minded and listened carefully to our truth-clarification and asked many questions. After one group of teacher learned how to make lotus flowers and went back to the meeting room, other teachers would see the flowers and then came to our table. Even after all the paper lotus flowers were given out, more teachers still came to ask for them. Though they didn't get a lotus flower, they were happy to take some information flyers, which they shared with others.
