Why Do I Persist in Practicing Falun Gong?

My name is Qu Wenting and I am 52 year old peasant. I never went to school. I'm from Dongchengfang Town, Zhuozhou, Hebei Province. Recently female Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Jizhi and Han Yuzhi were raped by officers from the Hebei police squad. I'm from the same village as Liu Jizhi and Han Yuzhi and I was also detained in the police station at the time of the rapes. I was one of the witnesses as well. Due to the persecution, I'm no longer able to return home.

The founder of Falun Gong, Mr. Li Hongzhi, our Master, teaches us to follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Why is it that Jiang Zemin and his regime are denying us the right to practise Falun Gong? On November 24th in 2005, Song Xiaobin and others working with the Dongchengfang Police Station came to arrest us and fine us. They did this without any instructions from the higher authorities. But what I don't understand is that after Liu Jizhi and Han Yuzhi were raped and the scandal of the police station got exposed, why didn't any higher-ups bring He Xuejian and the evil people to justice? Instead they spent ten thousand yuan to arrest us! Good and evil will be returned accordingly. This is a heavenly principle. I hope everyone can understand what Falun Gong truly is and no longer commit crimes in persecuting Falun Gong.

Today, I want to share some of my own experiences since I started practising. We practice Falun Dafa and believe in the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." There is nothing wrong with this. This is my clear understanding.

Before I took up cultivation practise in Falun Gong, I suffered from many diseases, especially angina pectoris and protruding lumbar vertebra. Six months before I started to practise, I was paralysed. We had to spend more than 1,000 yuan on medical expenses every month. Almost every penny my husband earned was spent on my medicines. I wasn't healthy and had a bad temper too. There were conflicts in our family all the time. I felt that life was meaningless. Due to both physical and mental suffering, I tried to commit suicide several times. When I suffered so much, every minute I was thinking about committing suicide. I told my husband, "Let me die." My husband begged me, "You can't die. The kids need to have a mother." So I was living a miserable life.

One day, my husband meta Falun Dafa practitioner by the name of Liu Jizhi. Liu Jizhi (one of the rape victims) told my husband, "Let her join us in the exercise class. It's free." My husband said, "She can't even move." But she said, "No problem." My husband told me about it. I immediately wanted to go. Two days later, I made up my mind and went to the practice site. I felt great. There is a little story to share here. When I got there and wanted to listen to Master's lectures, the tape recorder didn't play. It turned out that there was a practitioner who was late. The moment that practitioner came, the tape recorder started playing. Master said something about the student who came late today should come earlier in the future; otherwise he will affect other students listening to the lecture. I never heard of this sentence when I listened to Master's lectures later. Much later, I realised that when I first started listening to Master's lectures, I had already experienced some of Falun Dafa's miracles.

Master gave me a second life. Falun Dafa has given me a new life. Before I listened to the Falun Gong teachings that time, I had already decided to have an operation in Beijing. The required deposit was 6000 yuan (500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China). However, a little over a month after I listened to Master's Teachings, I was able to walk and become healthier. I could also start doing some housework. My children also said that I no longer have a bad temper and I can see that my family has grown more harmonious.

Not too long after I obtained Falun Dafa in February of 1999, I got hold of the book Zhuan Falun. I treated it as my treasure. I didn't know any words and had never gone to school. I wasn't even able to write my own name. I couldn't read Master's books. Later, I heard that there was an older lady of over 60 years old who never went to school either, but because she firmly believed in Dafa, she was able to read the book by herself. I thought to myself, "She is over 60 years old and is able to read the book. I can do it too!" But just then, the persecution of Falun Gong started. Since early 2000, I tried to learn the words and started reading Zhuan Falun.

But I didn't have a good memory. I was having a hard time remembering the words. So I cried, holding Zhuan Falun to my heart. Later, a miracle happened. When I opened the book again, I was able to recognise all the words that my daughter and son had taught me. I was so excited. Later, my son tried to test me and sure enough, I was able to remember all the words I had learnt.

Just like that, I was able to read more and more words each day. The words I learnt in one place, I was also able to recognise in other places. I was able to read more and more every day. From ten to twenty words, I learnt more and more. During the first year, I was almost done with the entire book. There were still some new words. During the second year, I read Zhuan Falun three times and there were no more new words left. Now, I can read Zhuan Falun from the very beginning to the very end. I read one chapter a day.

During the process of learning new words, I deeply felt that it was Master who was leading me to move forward. It is Dafa, the Great Law, that gives me wisdom and strength. Dafa is so wonderful. I've also experienced other miracles of Dafa on my cultivation path, but this is all I'll say for now.
