Falun Dafa Gave My 83-Year-Old Mother a Second Chance at Life

My mother is a Falun Gong practitioner living in Jimo in the region of Shandong Province, China. She is 83 years old. When she was young, she was diagnosed with bronchitis, which later developed into emphysema. She needed medicine and injections all year round, but they didn't do much any good. In the fall of 1998, most of my family started to practise Falun Gong. My mother was illiterate, so my sisters and I took turns reading the Falun Gong books to her whenever we had time. We often played Teacher's¹ lecture tapes in Dalian for her to watch. We also taught her to practise the set of five exercises in the morning and evening. Gradually and miraculously, her bronchitis and emphysema that had bothered her for decades were cured. She no longer coughed or had asthma. The whole family deeply appreciated that Teacher and Dafa had saved her life.

The former head of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin, and his regime have been persecuting Falun Gong since July 20th, 1999. We gradually realised the evil nature of Jiang's regime and further strengthened our righteous belief in Teacher and Falun Dafa. In July of 2000, my sisters and I went to Beijing at different times to appeal for a stop to the persecution against Falun Dafa. We were illegally arrested and persecuted in many ways, including illegal detentions, blackmail, fines, and forced labour. Police also pressured and threatened our family members.

In October of 2001, my mother suddenly developed bronchitis again, which she had not had for three years. She was very ill. At the hospital she was then diagnosed with late stage lung cancer, and we were told that she could die at any time. All her family members knew very well that even the best hospital could not cure her illness. I suddenly had a thought that only Falun Dafa could save my mother's life, so I suggested that we take her home immediately. Maybe there was still hope for her if we asked Teacher and Falun Dafa for help. With no other option, my family members hesitatingly agreed to my suggestion. Next day, we arranged for my mother's release from the hospital. At home, we played Teacher's lecture tapes in Dalian for her to watch. She sat and watched the lecture tapes for three to four hours every day. Her condition dramatically improved. On the sixth day after she returned home from the hospital, she suddenly had diarrhoea but did not feel any pain. She went to the bathroom five or six times in the morning and got rid of a lot of black substances. My youngest sister said, "Oh, no, Mother's cancer cells have spread to her intestines." I was lost, wondering if my mother was about to die.

That night, however, a miracle happened. My mother's high fever, which had lasted for more than 40 days, was gone. Her stomach problem also disappeared. We experienced the wonders of Falun Dafa once again. With tears all over my face, I could not find the words to express my appreciation to Teacher and Falun Dafa. Later I realised that Teacher had cleared my mother's body and gotten rid of the bad substances within her.

Three years have passed since that event, and my mother still lives in good health. Although certain bad people have been persecuting practitioners for more than six years, we will always firmly believe that Falun Dafa is the most righteous practise.
