On April 25th 2006, Falun Gong practitioners from the North German towns of Bremen, Hannover and Hamburg gathered at the Chinese Consulate at the Elbchaussee in Hamburg, to call attention to the seven-year unrelenting persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

This protest by the North German Falun Gong practitioners aimed at exposing the systematic organ harvesting of live Falun Gong practitioners, who are used in the Chinese concentration camps, prisons, and slave labour camps as raw material for organ transplants. Large banners that could be seen by occupants in cars driving on the busy Elbchaussee, spoke of the crime perpetrated in China. Many cars can be seen daily driving on the Elbchaussee, Europe’s longest street, on their way to work. They are already familiar with Falun Gong demonstrations. Many of the drivers slow down so they can read the messages on the banners.

The practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises while playing the harmonious and peaceful exercise music. The contrast between the peaceful meditation practice of Falun Gong, whose principles are Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, and the gruesome persecution against innocent people by the CCP was quite noticeable. It showed clearly that the CCP does not hesitate to use any method to retain sole power over the Chinese people.

The protest took place throughout the day. Many Chinese and Germans visit the Consulate during opening hours in the morning. Our being there allows them to hear the truth of the persecution. The practitioners who work in the day attend the protest in the evening to send righteous thoughts. In the morning, one of the practitioners rang the bell of the Consulate, so she could deliver an appeal letter to the Consul. In the letter, the North German practitioners advise the Consul and the Consulate staff to distance them selves as soon as possible from the CCP as not to be further implicated in the crimes perpetrated in China.

Background about the Zhongnanhai incident

On April 15th 1999, ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners went to the federal appeals office in Beijing, to request the freedom of forty five practitioners who had been arrested without cause when protesting in Tianjin City. Although the persecution of Falun Gong did not begin officially until July 22nd 1999, the communist regime already began secret activities against Falun Gong in 1996. They sent spies to the local exercise groups and ordered local media to publish slanderous articles about Falun Gong, with the intention of sowing unrest and instigating hatred against Falun Gong.

The practitioners wanted to explain the slanderous nature of an article published in Tianjin City. The practitioners were unsuccessful appealing to the local appeals office about the police atrocities. The Tianjin practitioners were arrested and the officials took away their freedom and personal rights. Therefore, practitioners went to the main appeals office in Beijing.

The appeal outside the federal appeals office by ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners was totally peaceful. There were no loud voices or any other incidents and this mirrored the peaceful nature of Falun Gong. The practitioners followed the directions of the police and simply waited to bring their complaints to the appeals office, as this is granted to all Chinese citizens under the Chinese Constitution. Actually, it was the police who led the practitioners to surround the government buildings. This was a set-up, so they could later argue that the practitioners surrounded the government buildings. As soon as the practitioner’s representative had spoken with the former Premier Zhu Rongji, the gathering dispersed peacefully.
