Sweden: Celebrating World Falun Gong Day in Stockholm

On Saturday May 13th, 2006, Swedish practitioners celebrated the 14th anniversary of Falun Gong’s introduction to the public at Kungstradgarden (King’s Garden) in Stockholm. Kungstradgarden is close to the Palace, a scenic spot, and is one of the most famous areas in Stockholm.

On that day, the weather was fine and the tulips in Kungstradgarden were in full bloom. Many people were out for a walk, among them were tourists from other countries. Practitioners held a four-hour celebration, with activities including dancing and singing, Falun Gong exercise demonstrations, a photo display, art exhibition and paper lotus flower making.

Stockholm is known as “the most beautiful city in summer”. Soft music and the elegant dance of “fairies” made people feel like being in a heavenly fairyland. Onlookers did not want to leave after they watched this performance.

“It is really wonderful! It is such a great scene in Stockholm!”
“I have been living in Stockholm for a long time, but it is my first time to see such beautiful Chinese dance!”

Some Chinese tourists were so surprised when they found some western “fairies” that they immediately grabbed their camera and shot some pictures. A Swedish girl could not wait to dance with the fairies and many tourists took pictures with them.

A western “fairy” Andrea told the reporter: “I have been practicing Falun Dafa for over two years. I benefited a lot and I want to show people the beauty of Falun Gong”.

When practitioners started to do the exercise demonstration to melodious exercise music, many people were attracted. One practitioner explained the features of the exercises to the audience with a microphone. Some practitioners distributed lealets together with a beautiful paper lotus flowers. They also taught people how to make lotus flowers. Some tourists showed interest in Falun Gong and chatted with practitioners for a long time, listening to their explanations and asking for information about exercise classes.

Swedish practitioners not only expressed their happiness in practising Falun Dafa, they also exhibited photos detailing the severe persecution of Falun Gong in China, urging people to help to stop this severe violation of human rights.

Some Chinese tourists took some pictures of the celebration activities. Some of them ad heard the truth about Falun Gong. Some of them said they could break through the blockage to read the Epoch Times online. Some of them at first did not want to take a leaflet because they were afraid of getting into trouble when they went back to China. Practitioners suggested them take one copy back to hotel or read it on plane, then they accepted it.

Towards the end of the celebration activities, all the Falun Gong practitioners posed in front of the camera and wished Happy Birthday to our benevolent and great Master.
