By Falun Dafa Practitioners in Jilin on Feb 25, 2002
Xiao Jinsong, male, was a steadfast Falun Dafa practitioner from Jilin City, Jilin Province. At the beginning of October 2000, he left for Beijing to peacefully appeal and was captured, illegally sentenced, and detained in a labour camp. On March 27, 2001, he was transferred from the Jilin City Huanxiling labour camp to the Jiutai Yinmahe labour camp. Since he refused to renounce Falun Dafa, or to write a 'repentance' letter, or to even cooperate with the evil, they brutally tortured him. To defy and resist this persecution, he went on a hunger strike in protest. The police in the labour camp meted out inhuman tortures upon him until he was on the verge of death.
On January 8, 2002, the police saw that he was dying, and were afraid of being held responsible for his death. They used several police vehicles and sent him, under the surveillance of over 20 policemen, to the emergency room of a hospital in Changchun City. Despite 24 hours of intensive care, he was still in a very dangerous situation. On January 9, 2002, the police had to send him to the Jilin City Central Hospital. And it was only at this time that the police bothered to inform the dying man's wife of his condition.
The hospital refused to accept the patient since he was deemed a hopeless case. The police slunk away to avoid responsibility, abandoning him at the hospital. When his wife came to the hospital, Xiao Jinsong was already in a coma. His eyes were sunk deep into their sockets and he looked emaciated. However, his abdomen was very big, distended, and his upper thighs were also horribly swollen. His wife pleaded with some of the hospital personnel, and finally the hospital reluctantly accepted him as a patient. The doctors diagnosed Xiao Jinsong as having hepatosclerosis and gave him 4-5 injections of heparin to treat it. However, his abdomen was still swelling. The doctors wanted to cut a 30 cm incision in his thigh in order to drain the body fluids but his wife refused. However, the doctors had already made a 10 cm incision on his thigh, and they did not sew it up, but only put medical cotton in it.
Xiao Jinsong was in the hospital for 10 days and the expenses shot up to about 10,000 Yuan [Average monthly pay of an urban worker is 500 Yuan]. However, he was not recovering. On January 18, his family took him home. Although Xiao Jinsong had difficulty speaking, one time he told his elder sister, "The labour camp is not a place for human beings. They used high voltage electric batons to shock me. So many policemen used them on me simultaneously that I could feel the electric batons hitting me like rain drops."
On the afternoon of Feb. 24, 2002, Xiao Jinsong, a Falun Dafa practitioner, died after having endured many forms of severe torture.
