Irish Falun Gong practitioners gathered at the Chinese Embassy in Ireland on the morning of August the 24th, 2006 to protest against the Chinese communist regime’s detention of Gao Zhisheng, a civil rights lawyer. An open letter addressed to the Chinese Embassy was read out in the rally. The following is an excerpt of the letter.

A strong protest against China’s unlawful arrest of lawyer Gao Zhisheng
We are shocked by China’s arrest of lawyer Gao Zhisheng from the residence of Mr. Gao’s sister in Shandong province on August the 15th, 2006.

Ever since the submission of an open letter to China’s National People’s Congress on December the 31st, 2004 to reflect the brutal persecution suffered by many Falun Gong practitioners in China, Mr. Gao has been suppressed by the Chinese communist authorities. Consequently, he submitted another open letter to the Chinese president, Hu Jintao, and premier, Wen Jiabao, on November the 22nd, 2005 to describe how he had been tracked, monitored and harassed by the police and explain why he wanted to deliver the first open letter. After he successfully escaped from police tracking and house arrest on November the 29th, he traveled to Jinan city in Shandong province, Dalian city and Fuxin city in Liaoning province, and Changchun city in Jilin province to investigate several cases of brutal persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners. On December the 12th, 2005, Mr. Gao released his third open letter, requesting the Chinese authorities to stop the barbarous persecution that would exterminate the conscience and morality of the entire nation.
Immediately after China’s organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners was exposed in March 2006, Mr. Gao joined in the committee for investigating Falun Gong’s persecution, hoping that the evil “never seen on this planet” could be put to a stop as early as possible.

On August the 8th, 2006, Mr. Yuan Sheng, a senior pilot with eighteen years flight experience associated with Shanghai-based China Eastern Airline, sought political asylum in the U.S. as soon as his flight arrived at Los Angeles International Airport at noon. Mr. Yuan said that he had introduced the book the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to a staff member in charge of ground service in Pudong airport before his plane took off on August the 8th. He tried to persuade the staff member to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Yuan was reported to the police and kept in custody by the policemen who came to the site immediately. However, all of the passengers had been on board and it was too late to find a pilot to replace him. As a result, the flight crew and the ground service crew persuaded the police to let Yuan complete the flight as scheduled. At noon of August the 9th, Yuan Sheng announced that he decided to leave the flight crew and he was forced to make the painful choice to exile in a foreign country because of the concerns that he might be persecuted if he were to return to China.

In order to divert public attention away from Yuan’s seeking asylum and the issue of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, the Chinese communist had decided to arrest Mr. Gao, whose continuous exposure and criticism about CCP’s violence, autocracy and brutality has frightened and angered the vicious Jiang-Luo group. Via these manipulations, the Chinese communist regime attempted to cover up the facts and intimidate all of the people who dare to challenge the CCP’s authorities.

We would like to call upon all of the conscientious people affiliated with the CCP to quit the evil party so as to live as a genuine Chinese. We also would like to urge the top executive officials of the Chinese communist regime to treat their compatriots well. Do not work as a puppet for the evil Marxist-Leninist regime. Withdraw from the CCP. Release lawyer Gao Zhisheng immediately and stop all of the persecutions against Falun Gong practitioners right away.
