On August 21st, 2006, Li Qian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Guangzhou, China, was arrested by Thai policemen when she held a display board and clarified the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong in front of the Thai Grand Palace. She was sent to the detention centre at the Immigration Bureau. The reason the Thai police gave for the arrest was that Lin Qian was an illegal immigrant. On August 22nd, two Chinese Falun Gong practitioners were arrested when they were on the way to the United Nations Service Centre. Later, they were released on bail.
Lin Qian started practising Falun Gong in 1994. She was illegally arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, and sent to a brainwashing centre. Her husband, Rao Zhuoyuan, was persecuted to death by the CCP for practising Falun Gong. Lin Qian escaped to Thailand in December 2005.
Li Qian is currently jailed in the Immigrations Bureau of Thailand. Her eight-year-old daughter, Rao Deru, is home alone without anyone to take care of her.
On August 12th and 13th, Falun Gong practitioners took part in celebrations for the Queen of Thailand's birthday, and spread the Fa to the Thai people. The practitioners’ parade entry, dance and musical performances were highly praised by the organisers, which upset the Chinese Embassy. According to the Thai police, the Chinese Embassy exerted pressure on the police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners.
