Germany: Prisoners as Living Organ Bank

The Chinese government is accused of abominable crimes. It is accused of harvesting organs from imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners. This results in the death of these people. Beijing is denying this. But, independent experts have found proof of the allegation.

“Then, they use the organs of Falun Gong practitioners?”

“Correct…”

“…and they are removed from healthy Falun Gong practitioners?”

“Correct…we only choose the healthy ones to assure the quality of the surgery.”

“That means that they choose the organs.”

“Correct.”

“Does that mean that they go to the prisons to choose the organs?”

“Correct. We have to choose them ourselves.”

“Does the person know that his/her organ is going to be removed?”

“No, he/she does not know it.”

I’m not making up this story. The May 22nd, 2006, telephone recording between Dr. Lu from the Minzu hospital in Nanning City, the autonomous Chinese region Guangxi and the caller refers most likely to an especially beastly crime. The doctor offers the caller during the conversation the organ of an imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner. It has been already a long time since the Chinese regime held prisoners, among them Falun Gong practitioners, as live organ banks.

The adherents of the meditation movement in China have been persecuted since 1999. These people who want to live peacefully have not committed any crimes. But, they are many when counted in numbers.
As the movement, among which could be found high ranking politicians had grown within just a few years, according to Falun Gong, from 70 to 100 million sympathisers, the Communist regime clamped down on them. The Communist Party, in power in Beijing, could not tolerate another mass movement.

Hundred and thousand adherents of the movement Falun Gong disappeared since then into slave labour camps without any legal process. The so called administrative detention allows for such incarceration. Under this policy, “enemies of the state,” among them Falun Gong practitioners, can be imprisoned for three years.

We are in the dark about what happens to them in those camps. Those, who were released after re-education, show signs of torture all over their body, said Martin Kritzler, president of the European branch of Falun Gong. Those affected tell of having been held in tiny cages. Others tell of having suffered electrical shocks. Then, there are those who no longer can tell secrets. “Many relatives receive no more than the ashes of the inmate,” said Kritzler.

Regime Placates

It is very rare to discover dead bodies that show clear-cut organ removal. But it is not unheard of. In April the body of a retired elementary teacher from the Guizhou and that of her cousins was found. Both Falun Gong practitioners had not returned from a trip to the mountains. Months later their dead bodies were found. The police said in their report that the cause of death was “Suicide.” They forgot to mention that the organs of these dead bodies were missing and that their heads were shaved. The report did not tell of the cavernous eye socket, which raises the suspicion of cornea removal. It is just as China always leaves much to question when it comes to the organ transplant theme. For example there are 40,000 transplants without known organ donors.

Beijing denies all accusations. But, the accusations no longer come only from Falun Gong practitioners. The former Canadian delegate and prosecutor David Kilgour and human rights lawyer David Mattas confirmed in their independent report these accusations. “We collected facts, and once we had put them together after three months of intensive work, we came to the undeniable conclusion that organ harvesting on living Falun Gong practitioners in China is happening, and that they are being murdered during the process. For example, no human can live without liver.”

China is deeply involved in organ harvesting. “Much that is sold in the worlds markets comes from China,” according to Martin Lessenthin of the International Society for Human Rights. Those who have sufficient capital, according to telephone recordings, can receive an organ within a short time. There are 500 hospitals in China that perform organ transplants. At times the hospitals are closely connected with the camps where Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned. According to a military doctor, there are thirty six such camps. The largest one holds 120,000 prisoners. They still continue to invest in such camps.

These activities are now noted internationally. At the end of July, US attorney Terri Marsh filed a complaint against two surgeons who at the time participated at a transplant congress in Boston. “I will do everything in my power to stop the organ removal from Falun Gong practitioners,” justified the manager of the Human Rights Law Foundation. The leading medical doctors Zhonghua Klaus Chen and Tongyu of clinics in Wuhan and Shanghai are accused of not trying to stop this inhuman practice at their place of work. Marsh said in her charge, “The accused are in the know and voluntary participants. Also, they must have helped or abetted in the practice of illegal organ harvesting on Falun Gong practitioners or other prisoners.” They also “benefited personally and financially from this practice.”

Background

Falun Gong is a movement that originated in China and is based on qigong. It was first introduced in 1992. The movement has its roots in Buddhism and Daoism. The adherents follow, according to their own words, the principles Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
