Early in the morning on September 23rd, practitioners arrived in Stuttgart in brilliant sunshine to support our activities, although some of them had to drive long distances. One of the practitioners brought a lot of useful equipment to build a very sturdy informational booth. We also had three narrow tables with adjustable legs, which made it convenient for people to sign our petition.
Our information booth covered three topics. In one area, we demonstrated the exercises and explained the nature of Falun Gong. In another area, we staged a torture exhibition and in a third area, we explained the illegal organ harvests in China. Some of the passersby asked detailed questions and wanted to hear proof of our allegations. They were happy to receive the independent report drafted by David Kilgour and David Matas and took it home for further study.
We were positioned in the major shopping district of Stuttgart and thousands of passersby were able to see our display. We got the impression that people lingered longer than usual to get more information. People came from all age groups and classes of society came to ask questions, receive fliers and support us with their signatures on our petition. Most people were truly shocked and asked what they could do to change the situation. On the whole, we noticed a great concern for the human rights situation in China.
