The 2006 Gangshan Mutton Culture and Woven Basket Festival started on November 4th, 2006. The Gangshan Woven Basket Festival has over 200 years of history with a rich folklore tradition. The festival is held three times a year and has a special meaning. "Woven Basket Festival" was named from old times when most transactions were related to bamboo products such as bamboo chairs, bamboo ladders, bamboo cages, bamboo woven baskets, bamboo carrying poles and many other bamboo-made farming tools. As time passed by, even though the name of the festival is still the same, the business has changed a lot. This year, the Mutton Culture and Woven Basket Festival had a lot of vendors and many cultural performances that attracted people from different regions. The festival was full of crowds of visitors.

Falun Gong practitioners participated in the festival and demonstrated the five exercises. The practitioners movements were orderly and peaceful. Spectators watched and some began to learn the movements on the spot. Reporters and other festival visitors took photos from various angles to capture the peaceful scene.
The head of Gongshan Township, Mr. Wu, also watched the demonstration from start to end. He was surprised to see that even little practitioners could do the exercises very well. The practitioners also used this opportunity to clarify the truth by telling him about the Chinese Communist Party's inhuman organ harvesting crimes and persecution of Falun Gong. The truth-clarification helped Mr. Wu and many visitors at the festival learn more about Falun Gong and the persecution in Mainland China, and it further exposed the Chinese Communist Party's lies and atrocities.
