On November the 18th, Falun Gong practitioners from various places in the north of England gathered at Dortmund Square in Leeds city centre to spend the day introducing Falun Gong to the locals and informing them about the persecution. Despite the cold and windy weather we demonstrated the exercises while others collected signatures, handed out leaflets and spoke to people about the situation in China.

Although the cold weather was a hindrance to the activity as people were dashing from shop to shop many people still took a few minutes out of the day to ask some questions such as , "What is Falun Gong?", "Why is the persecution taking place", "Are those pictures real (referring to the pictures of torture re-enactments)", "Do you have a petition" etc. Many of the passers-by had extremely cold hands and found it hard to hold the pen and yet they were still determined to sign the petition no matter how much effort it took. It was also pleasing to find people passing by commenting that they already knew about the persecution, had taken a leaflet or/and had signed the petition.
With winter fast approaching this will be the last Falun Gong activity to take place in Leeds city centre until 2007.
