My friend worked very hard to become a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) upon her graduation. At that time, many people misunderstood her and thought that her sole motivation was to find a good job after graduation. However, she explained her reasoning to me this way: She had read many articles praising the "good sons and daughters of the CCP" and was deeply moved. She thought that everyone should have a goal in life and decided to become a member of the Party. This became her only purpose in life.
Five or six years quickly passed, and troubles at work, along with interpersonal fighting and cheating, perplexed her greatly. Her initial "beautiful image of the CCP" was gradually transformed into brutal reality. Her last faith in the Party was shattered by the "June 4th Massacre" in 1989. At that time, everybody was required to reconfirm his or her commitment to the CCP in writing. She drafted a letter to withdraw her membership from the Party, but because her brother had experienced many Party-driven "political movements" and had a deep understanding of the brutality of the Party, he strongly discouraged her from handing in her letter. In consideration of her octogenarian parents, she did not insist on turning in the letter. She told me, "I completely lost faith in the Party." Since then, she never again paid her membership dues.
In the subsequent years, her passion faded until nothing was left. Her work required her to deal with several government departments, but her frank and kind nature prevented her from "playing the game" well. She became both physically and mentally exhausted and finally gave up her well-paying job. She always felt her hatred well up whenever someone praised the CCP in front of her.
At the beginning of last year, I told her that the heavens would soon wipe out the CCP and asked her to withdraw for her own safety but she thought it was useless because she was already feeling numb. All she could think about at that time was how to make more money and she did not care for anything else anymore. Every time I saw her, I tried to persuade her to quit the CCP but she always shook her head and said, "In my heart, I quit the Party a long time ago." I was surprised when she called me recently, early in the morning, and said, "Please help me quit the Party!"
She told me that she had met another Falun Dafa practitioner on a bus. The practitioner had also tried to persuade her to quit the Party, but she felt that it was merely a formality. When they got off the bus, the practitioner said good-bye to her. She told me over the phone, "When we said good-bye I could see the practitioner looking at me with sincere expectations and at that moment, I immediately decided to quit the Party!"
For seven long years, Falun Dafa practitioners have run the risk of being beaten, jailed, and even risked losing their lives, trying to clarify the truth and to save people with compassion. Kind people, can you understand us now?
