In response to Irish Senator Joe O’Toole’s invitation, Mr. David Kilgour, the Canadian Ex-Secretary of State (Asia -Pacific) visited Ireland on November 23rd, 2006. During his visit, Mr. Kilgour delivered a speech to the Foreign Affairs Joint Committee of the Irish Parliament and met the Irish Secretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Moylan, the two sides had a useful conversation. Irish National TV, radio, and the Irish Times conducted detailed interviews and reports.
Mr. Kilgour was interviewed by Irish National TV (RTE) about the CCP's trade in organs harvested from living Falun Gong practitioners |
On November 23rd, the Irish Parliament, situated in Leinster House, started a public witness hearing of the CCP's harvest of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Joint Committee Mr. Michael Woods gave a welcome speech welcoming the visit of Mr. Kilgour and the presence of three Falun Gong practitioners. Senator Joe O’Toole introduced the background information of Mr. David Kilgour and his independent report on the CCP’s organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners and hoped that Kilgour’s speech would have a big impact on stopping this persecution.
Then, Mr. Kilgour gave some new evidence based on his report. He introduced a thirty five year old man (name and nationality not disclosed for security reasons), who had kidney transplantation at the First People’s Hospital of Shanghai in 2003. Kilgour said that this man’s doctor, Tan Jianming, is the Secretary of China’s Kidney Washing and Transplantation Research Association. Doctor Tan also holds high positions on some of China’s army and general hospitals.
Kilgour said that this patient had tried very hard to find a suitable kidney because of an immunity defect. But in only eight days, he obtained four kidneys without one being suitable. Three months later, he performed the fourth kidney transplantation, this last one was successful. Just for one life, there were eight people who lost theirs; this is the status quo for China’s organ transplant policy.
Kilgour also said, the persecution against Falun Gong started in July 1999 and the large amount of organ transplantations were performed during the year 2000 to 2001. From 2000 to 2005, the estimated result from China’s official figures was that there were about 41,500 organs resourced during that period. These 41,500 organs were most likely removed from Falun Gong practitioners. Because Falun Gong is regarded as the ‘’enemy of the CCP’’, so they are not regarded as human beings, but a production line for money.
In addition, Mr. Kilgour introduced the interviews researched by Mr. Matas and him and the telephone investigation verifying. He conducted an interview with a doctor’s ex-wife, for example, at what time doctors started to harvest organs from Falun Gong practitioners, and how many operations have been made and so on. The telephone investigations indicated that some of China’s hospitals directly acknowledged that they have ‘’organs from young and healthy Falun Gong practitioners’’, waiting for patients to come for transplantation operations.
After the report of Mr Kilgour, a representative of Falun Gong practitioner Ms.Dongxue Dai spoke. She thanks Mr. Michael Woods the chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee for arranging such an opportunity to further expose the CCP organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, then she introduced the persecution of her family by the CCP, her father was dismissed in the so-called ‘’three years natural disaster’’ by a hospital because he told the truth, henceforth he wandered far from home to sell things on the streets to support the family to get by; her two sisters because they cultivating Falun Gong were kept in labour camps; her mother died of grief and indignation as the result of the brutal treatment of her family and Ms Dai was refused an extension to her passport by the CCP because she practices Falun Gong and was prevented from attending her mother’s funeral. Finally she became an Irish citizen.
Later on, a few TD’s (members of the Irish parliament) made speeches, the labour party’s spokesman TD Michael Higgins, the TD Allan Bernard, the independent TD Catherine Murphy as well as the independent Senator David Norris made speeches expressing their concern about the accusation of harvesting organs from living people and hoped that a further effort could be made to stop this evil.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dongxue Dai, with the chairman’s agreement also said, with regard to the organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP, there are some western governments and media who have some doubts; this is due to their lack of understanding of the CCP’s natural disposition. If they knew that the CCP’s nature is cruel, evil, and maintains its regime by slaughter, they wouldn’t have any doubts. For instance, the CCP brainwashes people with violence and struggle from primary school age, on the contrary, China’s five thousand year old culture promoted universal values of peace, benevolence and human harmony, if these values and philosophy returns to the Chinese people’s hearts the CCP philosophy of violence and struggle would not exit, that is why the CCP wants to destroy traditional Chinese culture.
At the conclusion, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Joint Committee Mr Michael Woods made a summary. He said Mr Kilgour’s report made compelling reading and he called for China to open its doors to an independent investigation in order to get at the truth. Furthermore, he said he will ask the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland to answer questions about the organ harvesting and will write to the Foreign Minister to make further inquiries.
