On November 28th, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners went on trial in Singapore for protesting in front of the Chinese Consulate. On November 30th, the judge found the two defendants, Ms. Ng Chye Huay and Mr. Erh Boon Tiong, guilty, and they were fined one thousand and one thousand five hundred Singapore dollars respectively, or 10 days in jail for Ms. Ng and 15 days in jail for Mr. Erh. The two thought the trial was unfair since their evidence and all four witnesses were refused. They immediately requested to appeal the sentence. The judge decided they must first pay the fines or serve their jail terms and only then could they appeal. Ms. Ng is serving her term in Changi Women's Prison, and Mr. Erh is detained in Queen's Town. The authorities will not all them to be bailed out.
On July 20th, three Falun Dafa practitioners meditated across the street from the Chinese Consulate, displaying a banner that said "Hunger Strike on July 20th to Protest the Chinese Communist Party's Inhumanly Persecuting Falun Gong. Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong in China." They were accused by Singapore police of harassment by displaying humiliating words. 73 year-old defendant Ms. Chen Peiyu was suddenly deported on August 21st, 2006, after charges against her were withdrawn.
During the three days of the trial, Ms. Ng and Mr. Erh provided much evidence to the court, but they were all refused by the judge as "not relevant." The evidence included the UN Investigation Report about Falun Gong, U.S. Congressional Resolution 188 calling for an end to the persecution, and others. The prosecutor suddenly withdrew a witness and evidence- a VCD. How can a case be concluded when there are no witnesses or evidence?
The court was clearly under pressure from the Singapore government. Below is some evidence indicating the trial was little more than a puppet show – The defendants' lawyer had his license to practise law suddenly suspended in November, forcing the two to defend themselves. Their statements were constantly interrupted by the judge in the trial. The court used a very small hall and only allowed four fellow practitioners to enter, yet assigned a large number of police to sit in. The judge forbade journalists to take notes.
Falun Gong was registered as a legal organisation in Singapore ten years ago in 1996. Falun Gong was not interfered with by the Singapore Government and was developing positively in Singapore before July 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started its persecution. After 1999, the attitude of the Singaporean government towards Falun Gong changed dramatically. Along with each CCP and Singaporean government interaction, an incident violating Falun Gong practitioners' human rights would occur as the direct result of CCP pressure and bribes. Singapore soon became a CCP foreign base, and Singapore's legal system has become a weapon used to confine people's mind by the CCP.
All kinds of public Falun Gong activities have been interfered with and constrained. The Singapore media echo CCP slanderous propaganda as well. There have also been several arrests of practitioners with charges of "illegal gathering" or "disturbing social order".
On May 28th, 2006, the media announced that top CCP official Li Lanqing was going to visit Singapore. Li is head of the gestapo like 610 Office which oversees the persecution of Falun Gong. Soon after, a series of incidents of trying to deport Falun Gong practitioners and ban activities used to expose the persecution occurred. On July 14th, 2006, the Singapore government tried nine Falun Dafa practitioners for "illegal gathering" in October 2005 when they were peacefully and lawfully protesting against the persecution.
This case was initiated soon after Li Lanqing visited Singapore, causing China's Xinhua website to spread propaganda about it. The Singapore government seemed to be trying to please the CCP. Before and after, many unfair incidents have happened, such as the Singapore government suspending Falun Gong practitioners' work permits, deporting practitioners, and even charging many practitioners for passing out materials containing the truth regarding Falun Gong and the persecution.
Nearly three thousand Falun Dafa practitioners are known to have been tortured to death by the CCP and Jiang's regime. Nearly a million practitioners have been detained or sent to forced labour and brainwashing. Over five hundred practitioners were sentenced to 18 years or more in prison. The unthinkable persecution includes murder, cruel torture, rape, mental torture, solitary confinement, discrimination, injecting nerve damaging drugs, etc.
In March of 2006, witnesses exposed the existence of concentration camps where the CCP harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit. The bodies are cremated to destroy the evidence. Many labour camps, prisons, and hospitals have participated in this evil crime. On July 6th, 2006, former Canadian Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific) David Kilgour and human rights attorney David Matas published a report summarising their independent investigation of the atrocities and concluded that the organ harvesting is indeed going on, and going on in a large way.
In the past seven years, Falun Dafa has spread to over eighty countries and received more than 1400 awards and recognitions. Falun Dafa practitioners world-wide are clarifying the truth about this cruel persecution with banners, parades, rallies, candle light vigils, anti-torture displays, press conferences, gala performances, etc. in order to awaken people to the truth. Western politicians and leaders frequently call for the CCP to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
Take for example at the beginning of 2006, when several resolutions and sentencing that supported Falun Gong and condemned the CCP appeared in Europe and the United States. These righteous voices were very impressive to all people who cared about human rights. On January 25th, 2006, the European Parliament (representing 46 countries) passed a resolution to condemn CCP crimes at a meeting held in Strasbourg, France. On January 31st, the San Francisco City Council passed a resolution condemning the CCP persecuting Falun Gong. On February 1st, 2006, a court in Dresden, Germany decided, "In April 2002, when Jiang was visiting, the German policeman's acts of checking a Falun Gong practitioner's ID, recording personal information, and requesting her to leave were unconstitutional."
The current Singaporean government is ignoring the truth about the CCP's cruel persecution of Falun Gong. After the CCP's anti-human crimes were widely exposed and condemned in international society, the Singapore government still charged and sentenced Falun Gong practitioners who were peacefully clarifying the truth. The judge sentenced Falun Gong practitioners when refusing all of the evidence or witnesses, obviously showing that it is giving in to CCP evil. A killer can be a house guest of the Singapore government, while the act of stopping murder is sentenced as "harassment." This is not only a reversal of right and wrong, but even more ridiculously, the court required the defendants to serve their jail sentences before they could appeal them. This is similar to the way the CCP persecutes Falun Gong!
Falun Gong practitioners clarify the truth to people in order to stop the persecution and to reveal the CCP's evil nature. The Singapore government has remained within it shameful history helping the CCP persecuting Falun Gong. If the Singapore government continues to stand on the evil side, it will meet the same fate as the CCP.
16 million people have openly declared their withdrawal from the CCP and its organisations (Youth League, and the Pioneers) since the publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party . More and more Chinese are quitting the CCP after seeing the evil nature of the CCP clearly. The CCP will soon bring its own demise. Singapore should not ignore this history in the making and be buried alongside the CCP.
Good is rewarded with good, and evil meets with retribution. This is a heavenly law. Ever since ancient times, whoever conforms to the people's wishes meets with prosperity, and whoever helps evil never escapes justice. If the Singapore government insists on helping the CCP persecute Falun Gong, it will bring disaster to the Singapore people. We hope that the Singapore government can wake up immediately, release all detained Falun Dafa practitioners, return their reputations and freedom, and respect and safeguard their basic human rights. Not helping or following the CCP is a wise act that can ensure the Singapore people's fortune and ensure yourselves a bright future.
