Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
Sun Yusheng is the director of the Qiqihar City Police Department in Heilongjiang Province, China. He has been actively persecuting Falun Gong practitioners who follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." He was the director of the Daqing City Police Department. At least 52 Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of the persecution in Daqing City during that period of time. Since then, Sun has constantly received karmic retribution for his misdeeds.
On New Years in 2004, Sun suddenly became paralysed in his office, and was in extreme pain. He was later diagnosed as having ankylosing spondylitis, which is often compared to certain incurable cancers due to its chronic and deteriorating consequences.
Sun became the director of the Qiqihar City Police Department on March 17th, 2004. Instead of remedying his crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners, he was even more rampant in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in order to receive a future promotion. Under his direction and orders, in the past few years there have been many accounts of severe persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Qiqihar City. For example, about two hundred Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested between November 2004 and March 2005. Even very recently, there were some practitioners being arrested.
Committing wrong deeds will surely receive retribution. Sun has frequently been forced to use a wheelchair due to his deteriorating condition. Besides the pain, he also has dizziness, exhaustion, and trouble getting to sleep. The amount of the medication he takes is more than his food. Sun admitted that with such pain and horrible experience, he would rather die.
In Qiqihar, police referred to him as "the godfather." They said, "The mafia is sinister, but the godfather goes beyond that." The Chinese Communist Party needs such thugs and now calls on the entire police system in Heilongjiang Province to learn from him. However, among his accomplishments, persecution of Falun Gong was not dared to be mentioned. It seems Sun also knows it is the worst thing to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. At the same time, however, everyone knows that Sun was promoted to his current post because of persecuting Falun Gong, and he could be promoted further. However, if Sun does not regret and redress the crimes he committed against Falun Gong, he could face limited opportunities.
