United States: Governor Bill Richardson of the State of New Mexico Proclaims May 13th, 2007 as Falun Dafa Day

On May 2nd, 2007, Mr. Bill Richardson, Governor of the State of New Mexico, Proclaimed May 13th, 2007 as Falun Dafa Day throughout the State of New Mexico.

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

Proclamation

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, was introduced to the public in China by Mr. Li Hongzhi, in 1992 and is currently practiced in over 80 countries by over 100 million practitioners; and

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is an ancient and traditional self-improvement practice that includes exercises and meditation, emphasizing the principles of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance; and

WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is not a religion and not political, yet some practitioners suffer persecution and suppression; and

WHEREAS, this peaceful and nonviolent movement has been banned by the Chinese government, and thousands of practitioners have been put in jails and labor camps without trials; and

WHEREAS, May 13th, 2007 is the 15th anniversary since Falun Dafa was introduced and is also World Falun Dafa Day; and

WHEREAS, volunteers in New Mexico have worked diligently to educate the community about Falun Dafa;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Bill Richardson, Governor of the State of New Mexico, do hereby proclaim May 13th, 2007 as

"Falun Dafa Day" throughout the State of New Mexico.
